Workshop At London Songwriters Week

London Songwriters Week 2009

Fresh On The Net: how to survive and thrive in a digital future.
An essential workshop for the first day of London Songwriters Week 2009  hosted by Tom Robinson with online music consultant Andrew Dubber from New Music Strategies

An intensive three-hour session to explore with writers and composers  the new avenues and possibilities of the online environment. Also special guest Claire Thomas on the BBC’s Introducing initiative to promote emerging artists.

This free event takes place at the Institute of Contemporary Arts (ICA) Nash Room from 1-4 pm on Monday, 18th May 2009. Places limited to a maximum of 80 – register at http://www.londonsongwritersweek.co.uk/register.html and check the box marked  Fresh On The Net. This workshop has been organised and endorsed by BASCA: The Voice For Music Writers.

“During 35 years in the music industry, I’ve never known a more exciting time for new music than the present. Writers and musicians today have unparallelled opportunities for getting heard and building a global fanbase. It’s no longer essential to be wealthy or well-connected:  all you have to be is good.”
Tom Robinson

BBC Introducing: Fresh On The Net showcases four hours of new online music every week, as recommended by listeners, musicians and tastemakers across the BBC.  New Music Strategies attempts to unpick what’s going on in the online music environment – and develop strategies to help independent musicians in a changing media environment.

Just a quick note to say that registration for London Songwriters Week is now live – see updated links in the main post above. Best to book early if you’re interested in attending: this promises to be a very special event and capacity is limited.
