In the 3 and half years since i first booked Dirty Weekend to play my hometown (Hartlepool) i’ve either booked them, or travelled with them up and down the country to over 25 gigs. everywhere they go they turn heads, every city, every town, from the workmens clubs to the swanky wine bars.

They’re a group of lads so down to earth and friendly but with a passion and a spark, a hunger and talent which amounts to more than your average mainstream pop chart top 10 artists put together.

all they need is the break they deserve…and if i had a smidgen of the cash needed these days i’d be all over it like simon cowell on a shit pop act!

Sirens has the potential to throw them in at the deep end. i really hope it does.

Dirty weekend are great i must agree with Tom, i have seen them live and they are brilliant and there album is great as well, definetly one to watch out for next year

It wasn’t meant to be an exhaustive list – it’s just the Tees bands who’ve been recommended to our radio and have been played over the last couple of years. Bob Fischer at BBC Tees could probably give you a list as long as your arm. And Dirty Weekend (like a lot of those acts we’ve played) sound more interesting than most of the stuff that makes it onto the daytime radio playlists. Good call about Das Wanderlust, though.

There’s loads of other great bands in the area -The Scarlet Desire, Emmy Shot A Unicorn, Four Mile Drive, Slip, Electric Nightmares, Jimmy Bullet & The Baby Shakers, Anchor Fast Anchor and Das Wanderlust all played M’Bro Music Live this year and aren’t even mentioned above.

thought pelletheads david christ track is pretty good & the 1st dirty weekend song is ok, but a lot of those other middlesborough groups in ur list arent that great. just because u used to live somewhere doesnt mean all music that comes from there is automaticaly good.
