THIS WEEK – LESBIAN HORSE
Lesbian Horse is a mystery human and a maestro of the beat – originally from Newport but now based in London. If you like your music on the funky side with sampledelic soundscapes, sci-fi leanings from another galaxy and snatches of spoken word, then Lesbian Horse is just the right sort of cheeky er…horse for you.
If you’ve also enjoyed the music of The Avalanches then you are gonna love this. Beautiful sound collages is his game – and bloody good at it he is too.
I stumbled upon Lesbian Horse via the medium that is Soundcloud and I’ve been smitten ever since. It’s hip hop, it’s trip hop, it’s funk, it’s found sound, soul – and a lot more besides.
A lot of stuff I listen to is very much ‘certain hour of the day’ specific, but I’ve never found that with Lesbian Horse. It seems I can put it on and be relaxed, inspired and entertained at any hour of the day.
What do you think, good people?
Rumour has it that Lesbian Horse lives in a comfortable stable in London and spends his life listening to Polish prog-rock bands and endless Italian TV soundtracks: looking for samples so that you don’t have to.
As the man himself says: “I make music out of cut-ups and old things with endless references to ancient records or strange vintage movies. The same principle extends to my writing project. Imaginary B-movies from an alternate reality”
1. What are you up to at the moment?
Just started working on a new project as part of The Fuck You SOund, radio, mix shows, new music, doing terrible things to Beatle samples, moving to London, eating fresh fruit and vegetables, smashing the system… The usual really.

Finding half a Fiesta magazine inside a hole in a tree..,. And it still being there a week later.
Sly Stone – great hair, strong look, There’s A Riot Going On is the best album ever made. And Satan, who does such excellent work.
5. What/who makes you laugh?
Having to explain to yet another moon/june/spoon singer-songwriter that having feelings and shit doesn’t make you a genius lyricist and that music made on laptops isn’t less valid than their insipid strumming. Having to explain myself to Lesbians.
6. Describe what you do?
I make psychedelic breakbeat music in order to point people away from Coldplay and Mumford & Sons.
