PRICK AND DING #59:CLEAR

Each week Fresh On The Net invites an artist or band to answer a short series of questions in Prick & Ding: the two and a half minute interview. It's convenient and quick - like enjoying a tasty microwave meal!

THIS WEEK:CLEAR

Clear are a song writing collective from Sheffield.

If I’ve said it once I’ve said it a thousand times-bring me warm & toasty anyday of the week. What do I mean by warm & toasty? I mean warm & melodic music that delivers the sort of lovely glow you get from an open fire, from a heartfelt welcome home or the feeling of being surrounded by the ones you love.

Clear‘s ‘Sunlight’ (below) does that to me every time,I feel like I’m home,I feel at ease, relaxed yet fully compos mentis.

Maybe its in the west coast vibe? Maybe its in the melody & tone of the Chris’ voice? Maybe its the Mamas & Papas-esque multi backing vocals? Maybe its the gentle gliding of piano & the dancing understated drums? OR Maybe I should stop asking all these stupid questions & just enjoy it for enjoyments sake-YES thats what I going to do,I’m just going to enjoy it for the sheer hell of it-look at me now Ma,I’m enjoying x.

As our own Daddy of the great & new out there in this wonderful music community,Tom Robinson said-Clear have created “Timeless classic pop music that could have been written any time in the last 40 years but with 21’st Century sensibility”

So who are these emperors of song calling themselves Clear, well Clear are:-

Chris Damms, vocals, piano. guitars,
Jools Buffey , Vocals , Piano
Hugh Ruiz , Bass
Andy Cook, Drums
Bryan Day, vocals, Guitars, Piano, Keyboards

Its great to see them getting support on Fresh On The Net,BBC Introducing & from my old mucker & fine DJ Gary Crowley.Well I say mucker,he would probably term it stalker but hey you live & learn ;).

Sunlight was produced and recorded by Richard Hawley’s producer Colin Eliot & it certainly has a lovely sound to it.

There is so much great music out there & at Fresh On The Net we love sharing it with you-give Clear some of your time & get some of what I like to call that warm & toasty feeling.
