ENTERTHELEXICON – Codes
http://enterthelexicon.com
EnterTheLexicon are “an Alt.Rock/UK Grunge three piece based in Newcastle Upon Tyne, with their sites set on a move to Brighton in early 2016. Tired of hearing regurgitated polished rock, ETL cut the show business and blend melody and dirty guitars, creating honest, no frills, hook ridden tracks. With the new EP Ruining Lives coming out at the end of November, spearheaded by the lead single Codes, it shows the path from which they came, where they are now, and where they’re headed. Recent success from support of dedicated fans in funding the recording of their debut full length album via kickstarter has given ETL new fire in their stomachs to continue spewing out the noisy hooks. They’re set to record the debut full length in December this year.”

EVA STONE – You’re Alright
http://facebook.com/evastoneofficial
Eva Stone is “an unsigned singer and songwriter hailing from Newcastle upon Tyne. After spending two years in London developing her sound, Eva decided to move back to her roots to write with Jordan Miller. The two have spent 2015 writing songs that are reminiscent of timeless classics whilst lyrically containing darker and more emotional content. You’re Alright is a rare but effortless pop turn from the usual reflective music she is known for. Eva will be bringing this live power to support James Morrison on his UK tour in November, and has been working with Nitin Sawhney on his long awaited tenth studio album, Dystopian Dream, which has seen her make several radio and TV appearances. Busy times ahead for Eva as she looks forward to the new year which will see her first official release.”

DEMOB HAPPY – Suffer You
http://demob-happy.com
“Newcastle-spawned, Brighton-based quartet Demob Happy had a sound to match their invective. Theirs is off-kilter pop music wrapped up in a barbed-wire body bag, dunked in honey and left out in a woodland clearing for the feral beasts to peck and pick apart. Heavy, heady and with a set of snarling teeth. Demob Happy’s debut album Dream Soda (released through SO Recordings on October 2nd) is a collection of contrasts: tough and tender, melodic and malevolent, sweet and sour. It is a concept album without contrivance, one in which we’re treated to sci-fi-inspired sounds and dystopian messages disguised beneath sexy, shiny hooks and a silver lining.” Upcoming headline tour: 2 Dec Nottingham, Bodega; 3 Dec Leeds, Nation of Shopkeepers; 4 Dec Manchester, Gulliver’s; 5 Dec Glasgow, Broadcast; 7 Dec Bristol, Start The Bus; 8 Dec Birmingham, Hare and Hounds; 9 Dec London 100 Club; 11 Dec Brighton, The Haunt.

DRIFTS – Blue

Barry Hyde, frontman of The Futureheads, has been working as a professional musician since 2002, released five albums and has over 100 songs published. During his 13 years as frontman of The Futureheads he played over 800 gigs. Exploring post-punk, new wave and pop music, The Futureheads were among the best of the UK’s “angular” movement which also included Franz Ferdinand and Bloc Party. After great success the band called a hiatus as each member felt found it interesting to explore creative outlets away from the band. Barry has since become a prolific teacher of music and songwriting working in schools, colleges and universities around the North East and is one of the founders of Split Festival in his hometown of Sunderland. While We Were Sleeping is a foretaste from his debut solo record Malody, due for release in 2016.

Avalanche Party are “a garage-punk band formed high in the wind swept, bracken laden heights of the North Yorkshire Moors by two brothers who spent their summers hunting with bows and arrows and camping by firelight, and their winters snowed into their isolated hill top home with nothing but the sounds of Bo Diddley, Link Wray, Wilko Johnson and Jimi Hendrix to keep them company. After releasing their debut EP this year to rave reviews from national and international press, and heavy radio play from the likes of BBC Introducing and Amazing Radio the band have solidified their reputation for being one of the hottest bands in the North of England right now. The band are currently in the studio writing for their next release which is pencilled for early 2016.” Upcoming shows: Nov 18 York, Fulford Arms; Nov 24 London, Sebright Arms; Dec 5 Stockton, Green Room; Dec 8 Hull, The Sesh.

http://facebook.com/afnanprinceofficial
Afnan Prince is a gifted singer/songwriter to emerge from the Northeast of England. It is fair to say that Afnan is a live show specialist stunning every room by telling his story through his infectious melodies and masterful vocals. The subtle vulnerabilities truthfully expressed in his songs make every aching note purposeful and original. Afnan,s ever-evolving vocal range makes him a dynamic and distinctive singer. Ascending from his share of struggles Afnan continues to qualify as a credible singer/songwriter whose music is ready to make its mark. “

GOY BOY MCIlROY – Wicker Bed
http://www.facebook.com/goyboymcilroy
Goy Boy McIlroy are “a neo-gothic, post-punk tainted, alt-blues band from Darlington that create a carnival atmosphere whilst purveying a sinister soundscape of raw drive and industrial ambience. Their energy and unsettling charm draws you ever closer as they relentlessly provide chills and thrills in equal measures, creating an avant-garde exterior that occupies your gaze allowing the music to surround you, knock you off your feet and drag you into the darkened alleyways of your imagination. This year the band have played Stockton Calling, Live At Leeds and The Alternative Escape in Brighton as well as touring the UK to support the release of their New EP ‘Duell’, which is out now on iTunes. Over X-mas they will be playing a couple of secret DIY shows, so keep an eye on their social media for information.”

OH SISTER – For The Dales
http://ohsistermusic.com
“Beginning with minimal guitar and sweet but melancholy tunes Sarah Berresford – better known as Oh Sister – has been writing songs for as long as she can remember. After gigging extensively on the London circuit, she has recorded and self released her first EP Watch The Water and has pieced together a band to find an understated but expressive sound.”

AJIMAL – Apathy / Apatheia
http://www.ajimal.co.uk/
Childhood is the debut album by Ajimal “a shapeshifting collective led by Newcastle’s Fran O’Hanlon – and recorded with friend and collaborator Mick Ross in various studios, churches, theatres and hospitals. Featuring a cast of more than 50 musicians and themed around the concept of childhood, the album explores ideas of youth, potential and play through a mix of contemporary, classical, and field recordings. This single Apathy / Apatheia is about naivety and youthful idealism in observing the complex world of the adult. Childhood has just been released on limited edition 12” heavyweight vinyl by the Newcastle label collective Mono Production https://monoproduction.co.uk”

LORD SWANS – Tracks
https://www.facebook.com/LordSwans
Lord Swans is the music project of Matthew Bulmer, “a Magma Indie solo artist currently residing in Whitburn – a small village by the sea is making waves for himself. With numerous plays on BBC Introducing under his belt, this rising star is definitely one to watch. For lovers of Darwin Deez, Biffy Clyro and Pulled Apart By Horses, Lord Swans’ music is a must. Swans incorporates heartfelt verses, alongside anthemic choruses to create what can only be described as epic music. His ambitious guitar lines and fresh breakdowns are intoxicating and set him apart from the rest. His electric stage presence only adds another dimension to his already captivating and emotional music. Swans’ striving tracks are written not only to be heard, but experienced. Keep an eye on the horizon, as it will not be long before Lord Swans is making waves near you.”

BORDER SCOUT – Let’s Pretend We’re Dead
http://borderscout.com
Border Scout is “two brothers originally from Yorkshire, now based in the North East. They began creating their debut album The Nature Of Things in a self-imposed isolation that saw one become a Yogi and the other a long distance runner. Their cinematronica sound developed as they combined their love of orchestral scoring, intimate programming, live instruments and heavy sampled beats, as well as drawing inspiration from their explorations into wild landscapes. Part soundtrack, part concept album, part cathartic redemption, the album was released at the end of October. It was preceded by Let’s Pretend We’re Dead – their debut single featuring Austin-based vocalist Stoney, with whom they also worked on another album track called Hold Your Fire.

COQUIN MIGALE – Luv
https://www.facebook.com/CoquinMigale
Coquin Migale “seemingly appeared from nowhere at the end of last year after signing to super cool indie label End Of The Trail Records. Their first 2 singles ‘GOLD’ and ‘SOCOTRA’ were played by Huw Stephens on Radio 1 and just about every blog was raving about them. Now they release ‘LUV’ on 20th Nov. A more brooding, menacing tune than their previous ones, but still delivering Alex Sopers unmistakable voice. And what a voice it is. There’s something about this band you can’t put your finger on. A definite originality if you will. This band will have a big 2016. Watch out for them coming to your town.”

STORMS – Undress
http://www.stormsband.com

Bree grew up listening to Johnny Cash on the bus ride home from school, which definitely made her the weirdest kid on the block. Her tunes are infused with the scent of vanilla fudge and fresh chocolate chip cookies baking in the oven. Bree’s unique style emanates in everything she does from her music to her dress sense, all coming from a bygone era. With the mellow vocal sounds similar to Patsy Cline and instrumentation of The Zombies and The Kinks, Bree is a sweet songstress reminiscent of another era, but here for you to enjoy now. Her debut EP Bag Of Bones was released in 2013, with new release is due in 2016.

CAPE CUB – Keep Me In Mind
https://www.facebook.com/capecubmusic
“Hailing from the shores of the North East coast, Cape Cub is the solo project of Chad Male. This year has already seen him at the top of the Hype Machine chart with Swim, gaining a wave of online attention, following up recently with the homesick yearning of Keep Me In Mind. Fresh from successful live dates with the band this year at the likes of The Great Escape in Brighton, and after packed out shows with Fickle Friends and Clean Cut Kid, he has spent the past few months writing and recording the debut EP. This will be released in conjunction with a string of live dates across the UK. Funny fact – Chloë Moretz aka Hit Girl in Kick Ass is a fan of Cape Cub, and tweeted about Swim to her 1.8 million followers.” Upcoming show: 18th November – Think Tank, Newcastle-upon-Tyne w/ Oscar
