Cracking send off before the summer break.

Difficult to choose but it was a bit like The Voice for me , listening along and then some great defining moments within the later parts of Ulyssees Wells, Joyya and Quiet Lions made me press the vote button.

See you all after the summer and looking forward to hearing the August “additional content”

Now where did I store the bucket, spade and windbreak?

    DIDI – Back Off
    JOYYA – Red Tune

  8. The final Listening Post before the summer really kicks in is a great selection of tunes to pack in our suitcases and take with us on holiday. There were 5 in particular that really stood out this week with Mr Maltman finally overcoming my aversion to lyric less songs (aka instrumentals) with his Haunted Music Box a little gem of a track.

GLENN MALTMAN – The Haunted Music Box
    JAAYNS – Danger
    MELLOR – Fire on Fire

  10. Ok, I’ve picked five, but am I allowed a temper tantrum because ‘it’s not fair’!!!

I should have been allowed to choose at least ten, because Birdyhop, Glenn Maltmann, Jaayns, Pimlican, Quiet Lions, Tracey Browne…oh and I’m already up to eleven….

I can’t pick a stand-out track because they’re all good, but push me and I’ll go for Chase Emery Davis. It’s right up my alley, but I can’t explain why :)

  17. The Rocking Horse Club. All day for me. Didi is brilliant too. Blown away by the volumes of great writing and music coming across on here. I’m Scottish so the notion of summer is totalitarian. There are no seasons only different shades and temperatures of dreich. Happy camping you beautiful woodland creatures!

    DIDI – Back Off
    MATTHEW GOLOMBISKY’S CUENTOS – Cuento #9
    OLA SZMIDT – Wrapped
ROBERT EUNSON – Words Can Change Lives

There’s a poem of the Irish W.B. Yeats I love, that came to my mind while thinking how to comment on CUENTO #9 – The Cloth Of Heaven. Why? It is, like GLENN MALTMAN’s The haunted Music Box, an instrumental piece. CUENTO #9 evoked to me of a piece of cloth, ready to be don. And, once donned, emphazising one’s shape, one’s mood. That is how instrumental pieces work.

Diametrically opposed you find “WORDS CAN CHANGE LIVES” with lyrics being body and spirit – and the cloth they wear is of simple … plain, unpretentious linnen. It IS rhythm AND poetry without twirly boring addlipps repeated. Soothing. Though I missed the lyrics.

OLA SZMIDT is on her own way, and friends of FreshOnTheNet know her as good willing moderator of all the talent’s submissons to the FOTN DropBox and author of competent reviews. With WRAPPED she proceeds with weaving vocals, English and Polish, lyrics and sound to jazzy new ground … Jazz? New ground?

… tread softly because you tread on [someone other’s] … dreams.

This last “meanwhile” Listening-Post leaves me with quite more than five tracks that are worth (my) listening with my colleague’s choices convincing me again and anew (is there an English term like anew?).

Enjoy summer, all of you – and keep on listening and commenting, as especially the choices of those who come here week after week to vote for tracks that are not their own interest are worth/upgrade all (my) listening.

    :)!

  23. Happy summer everyone:) can’t believe I made the listening post especially when there is so many good songs submitted (in fact my song was behind the Soundcloud logo so at first I didn’t think I had :)

  25. Albert Man and The Rocking Horse Club present the standout tracks – solid writing, musical skill and production. That said, some real innovation and experimentation going with all the artistes, which makes it very difficult to choose just five. Btw, it’s the second time this week that I’ve heard, “Straight White Man”…the YouTube video is well worth a watch.
