Gaggle – Army of Birds

Gaggle are an all-female alt choir led by songwriter and arranger Deborah Coughlin. They’re signed to Transgressive and their debut album From the Mouth of the Cave is out next month. It’s hugely gratifying to see this genre and boundary defying group of singers get the attention they deserve. Already in just this first taster from the record it’s proving to be polished, varied, funny and above all a brilliant Feminist anthem.

Orlando – Snow Scene

Hilary James and John Stewart are Orlando, based in Barcelona the lucky devils. Believe it or not, the tracks on their profile are recorded on Garageband and iPhone (!) imagine what they’ll be pumping out once let loose in a studio. This is the latest track they’ve posted but take time to listen to the rest (especially Love Is A River). I think it’s the quality of Hilary’s voice, rich, unique and absolutely beguiling. You could get lost in an album of tunes from these two – let’s hope they don’t keep us waiting too long.
