Over the next 24 hours a dozen of us will listen to every track on this playlist, and we’ll each pick one outright favourite plus five other “also-liked” tracks. Everyone has different tastes, which means that artists who have different styles and genres all get a decent chance of getting picked. Then on Friday we’ll add all the picks together – and everyone’s outright favourites, plus another dozen collective favourite tunes, will become our Listening Post tomorrow.

Did it! ( With daughter sitting next to me- We danced, laughed and I asked 6 years old for the opinion too- intuition took a biggest part in choosing one fav and 5 other. I did briefly looked at profiles of artists and tried to be fair as much as I could in choosing too.
Here is a list by Ola and Amelie based on intuition, production and goosebumps. When some track didn’t resonate with us we had to give it a pass after 1 minute or sometimes we had to skip some through.

Superb idea Tom. I’ve spent the last half an hour or so looking for turkeys, but can’t find any. In a sort of OMG type way I was hoping to find a few X Factor audition equivalent shockers. Wow. Skimmed through a bunch of these (one of mine buried in there) and heard a ton of ace stuff – Captain Viking’s Centrefold is my fave. Builds beautifully. The Heath one great also. I don’t know how you’d pick. Good luck!
Wow! Night Lantern and Dork Turnspit tracks are really doing it for me but what a load of great tracks you must get sent every week if this lot is anything to go by. So much great underground stuff out there.

1. Maximum respect to all the guys who listen to 200 songs every week. It’s hard.
2. Made me realise what a luxury I have when I play my songs live and people listen for 3 mins without hitting fast forward or next track.
3. Wonder if I can write a song that grabs in first 10 seconds and keeps doing it whatever 20 seconds you then listen to.
Yup…it be a lot of work throughout the week going through the DropBox for sure but well worth it when we come across real gems!
Interesting idea posting this Tom – think in someway it may make those that make music think a little differently about what they submit and/or what they’re up against by quantity and often quality.

Have applied the infamous Ralph’s playlisting 20 second attention span test to speed things up plus have already played quite a few on Ralph’s Indie Show – good standard over the 100 tracks…picking a Top 10 wasn’t so bad but getting it down to 5 was difficult…however…after several mind changes…
