Del Osei-Owusu sits down with artists on the FOTN radar and gets them to tell their origin story over a cup of tea and biscuits. Today, it’s the turn of Min-t and she brought Petit Beurre — tea biscuits from Poland.
Hello MIN-t, how are you?
Hey! I was super sick after my release show, but I’m slowly coming back to life.
Congratulations on the release of Before The After. How does it feel now it’s out in the world?
It feels good, but also a bit sad because I loved working on this album. Now it’s out and I have to find a new project to keep myself busy 🙂
What’s your favourite track from it?
Right now I think it’s Last Day, but honestly it changes every week.
What’s your favourite memory of recording the album?
Every moment when I had an AHA moment in the studio and from there the work just started flowing.
You had an incredible visual to go with Hope, your single from the album. What was it like developing the concept into reality?
It was a lot of work for sure — lots of conceptual work, learning choreography, and the set itself was really fun because I worked with post-production for the first time. The shooting day was 18 hours long, which was exhausting, and then working on the AI shots was also something completely new for me. I had to learn how everything worked along the way.
You’re an artist from Poland now living in Berlin — how did it all begin for you?
I came to Berlin to study music and I stayed — although I also lived in Spain for a while in between.
What did you listen to growing up?
Mostly classical music, soul and jazz — then later I shifted more into pop and electronic music.
You’ve been performing live at over 300 concerts and festivals — what’s been a highlight for you?
I think Open’er Festival in Poland. I had the best crowd there.
What’s a funny thing that’s happened on stage?
My computer died while I was supporting another act, and the drummer from that act came on stage to somehow save the situation. I started rapping over his drumming and we became best friends after that.
What are you listening to at the moment?
JMSN, Magdalena Bay, and Jekka.
What are you looking forward to doing next?
I’m looking forward to making music for other people, figuring out my business, making more music, and playing more gigs.
