THE OTHER WOMAN: Lady Lykez/ Krystle Warren

Lady Lykez – Not Your Hair

Lady Lykez is a firecracker of an MC from north London: young, sassy, funny, quick fire rap stylings, a massive talent. TOW ‘hearts’ this girl (as the kidz say) and can’t wait for her to accomplish big things. This release of Not Your Hair is the remix featuring Lady Leshurr, Lioness and Stush – a veritable who’s who of young female grime MC’s. Feel the power! Check out this great acapella version (yours truly held the mic boom for this *name drop*!)

Krystle Warren – Every Morning

Krystle Warren is a musician’s musician. Those in the know want to record with her, want her wondrous dulcit tones on tour with them and the likes of Danny Thompson and Rufus Wainwright know a good thing when they hear it. Following rave reviews for Circles, her first album, Love Songs: A Time To Embrace follows on 2 April. Pictured with a cigarette in hand on her website, this singer songwriter and guitarist from Kansas City, Misouri conjures up the languid haziness of a fifties jazz club or Sunday afternoon in black and white film. It’s timeless and somehow still feels current in 2012. She wisely says: “I’ve been in the music business for a while now. I see how it’s changing and I believe that it’s time for artists to seek control over their creative voice”… she’s done just that setting up her own label for this release Parlour Door Music. An independent musician through and through, Krystle Warren we salute you!
