Tom Rosenthal

You don’t need to shout to be heard. I have just heard this song by a singer/songwriter called Tom Rosenthal that is stunningly beautiful in its simplicity.

The tune is called ‘The Depressed Milkman’ and I played it after seeing that a family friend Lewis Greenham had played it on Soundcloud earlier tonight (thanks Lewis). I played it unsure of what I was going to hear and man oh man – this song just reached out to me in all its melancholy bliss. A tale so wonderfully British yet in a language that reaches all shores.

I’ve no idea whether Tom is a bright light, an up’n’coming star or a big hitter music-industry-wise (though I prefer the term ‘Music Community’ much more). I just know I played this song three times in a row and absolutely love it. To me that’s all that matters: I connected, I loved it, I’ll be back for more.

Do you know Tom’s music? Tell us more about him please…

PS Just found this – more music from Tom here:

  1. Tom

    Tom Rosenthal x 2

    Great call Johnno!

Though of course Tom Rosenthal (left) should not be confused with Tom Rosenthal (right).

There’s a bit more info about TR (Tom Rosenthal that is, as opposed to Tom Rosenthal, Tom Ravenscroft or even Tom Robinson) on his website – but not much.

He says “Bonjour, I’m a quarter of a century year old songwriter from London. My first album ‘Keep a Private Room Behind the Shop‘ was released in late 2011. I’m currently working on the 2nd. If you wish to be kept up to date with new songs/videos etc then do join me on one of these things: Facebook / Twitter / Soundcloud / YouTube. I also have a bespoke song (tailor-made songs) service which you can find about out here.”

The actor and comedian Thomas Alan S. Rosenthal on the other hand already has his own Wikipedia entry. He arrived on our screens as Jonny Goodman in Robert Popper’s surreal TV sitcom Friday Night Dinner. My family greatly enjoyed watching Tom at Tooting Rhubarb comedy club a few months ago 🙂

I like Tom Rosenthal and I also like Tom Rosenthal – but which is better? There’s only one way to find out…

  2. A very beautiful sound indeed! Thanks for bringing him to our attention! 🙂
