PRICK AND DING #34:LIZ LAWRENCE

Each week Fresh On The Net invites an artist or band to answer a short series of questions in Prick & Ding: the two and a half minute interview. It's convenient and quick - like enjoying a tasty microwave meal!

THIS WEEK : LIZ LAWRENCE

Liz Lawrence is a singer/songtress based in East London.

Songs come to you in lots of different ways, through the radio,YouTube,Soundcloud, from friends suggesting them, family members discarding them or a thousand other ways.

We are very lucky on Fresh On The Net to have songs come to us through our Soundcloud Listening post so we can then ask you dear readers/listeners to have a listen & vote for your 5 faves in an open & natural way.

‘Bedroom Hero’ came in via the Listening post and it charmed the heck out of me when I first heard it.

I had no hesitation in approving it for that weeks listening post & was really pleased to see it voted into that weeks Fresh Faves by you lovely people.

Bedroom Hero is one hell of a song that grows & grips as it proceeds, opening up as a small bud and growing into a wonderfully bright flower in full bloom.

On this song Liz Lawrence sounds like the Adele of the underground, her voice & the musical backing truly inspiring a sense that anything is possible, the past is the past & lets herald new beginnings. What better way to herald in a new year than this.

Following on from a successful Livestream house concert Liz performed from her flat in east London to hundreds of global watchers on the 26th of November she is set to embark on a UK wide tour of fan’s living rooms in January 2013 with her debut album ‘Bedroom Hero‘ under her arm which was released on the first day of 2013.What a brilliant idea.

Liz has supported artists such as; Scouting for Girls, Xavier Rudd, Ben Howard, Brooke Fraser, Young the Giant, Yoav, The Civil Wars, Michael Kiwanuka, Milow (Europe), Black a.k.a Colin Vearncombe (Uk and Europe) and one of her idols Ani Difranco, who commented on Liz as “a beautiful artist who lives on the edge”.

Couldn’t agree more, much luck with the tour & the album Liz :).
