PRICK AND DING #83:TWIN CAVERNS

Each week Fresh On The Net invites an artist or band to answer a short series of questions in Prick & Ding: the two and a half minute interview. It's convenient and quick - like enjoying a tasty microwave meal!

THIS WEEK:TWIN CAVERNS

Twin Caverns are Louise Millar and Michael Macias from Sydney, Australia.

They make delicious world wide music that swoops & shifts in all the right departments.

In writing up these regular interviews with great new music artists I often ponder-Does it really matter nowadays what genre an act works in? If you are here, you are likely here because at Fresh On The Net we like to talk about the best new music available to you in any form.Of course I understand it can help some people by being able to associate it with other acts that you might like by saying they sound like “x” ,”y” or “z” but the current generation of makers & listeners of music must have the most eclectic of tastes ever.

Anyway,I am in a non genre-specific kinda mood today so there ha.
You know that I think anyone who features on Prick and Ding is very special in their own right. So let me just say that Twin Caverns fit the brief of Prick and Ding by making gorgeous warm & melodic music that pricked up my ears in the most pleasant way when I recently happened upon them,I hope it does the same for you dear readers.

So before we set about the interview lets hear just a smidgen about their history. I believe they have been together as an act for but a short time and in only a matter of months this Syndney twosome have already been picked up as FBi Radio’s Unsigned Artist of The Week as well as given a spotlight in NME Magazine & being mentioned by all sorts of fine online folk.
Their current single ‘Undiscover’ is out now and its well worth checking out

Check their Soundcloud page for upcoming Shows which promise to be something special.
Lets see how Twin Caverns grow and take on the world, its going to be a great ride.

1. What are you up to at the moment?
We just had a pretty great run with live shows, so are taking a few weeks respite and knuckling down in the studio (read: michael’s bedroom) to finish up the EP we are hoping to release in june/july this year.

2. Favourite childhood memory?
Michael: watching Mortal Kombat for the first time. Lou: (laughs).

3. Hero?
Lou: Marina Abramovic.

4. Villain?
Michael: Joffrey Baratheon. I love to hate him.

5. What/who makes you laugh?

Michael: Larry David! Curb Your Enthusiasm is one of the all time best comedies. He says everything i would want to say in a social setting but don’t have the guts to.

6. Describe what you do?
Astral soul.

7. Who’s hair would you like to have for just one day?
Michael: Anyone bald. Having no hair for a day would be heavenly.
Lou: Michael’s glorious mane of dreadlocks.

8. Best musical experience to date?
Michael: Jamming with John Butler at Redfern one time.

9. What artist inspires you?
Michael: I was brought up on classic rock music. Although it doesn’t show through the sound of our music, I often look to Slash (guns n roses) for inspiration and work ethic. I was also inspired by Flying Lotus’ live show.
Lou: Justin Vernon in his various incarnations. Jeff Buckley, Beth Gibbons and many of the artists we are surrounded with in Sydney’s inner west also top the list.

10. What does Fresh On The Net mean to you?
A brilliant avenue for independent & up and coming music, a place where you can easily access music being made internationally, and a source of support for us to keep doing what we’re doing!
