Welcome – And A Quick Reminder

A big welcome to any new visitors who’ve recently joined us here at Fresh On The Net.

I host a show on BBC Radio 6 Music called The BBC Introducing Mixtape, and this is just a quick reminder that anyone can submit a song for that programme by following these 2 simple steps:

(1) send the tune to Fresh On The Net, so I can hear it
(2) upload it to BBC Introducing, so it qualifies for airplay

This is because BBC Introducing shows are only allowed to play music that’s been uploaded to us via http://www.bbc.co.uk/music/introducing/uploader.

A number of artists sent tunes to Fresh On The Net last week but not to BBC Introducing. Some were by overseas artists (see below*), but most acts came from the UK and simply didn’t follow step (2) above.

I particularly liked these 10 tracks below – some of which even got voted onto our Fresh Faves at the weekend. Since they couldn’t be featured on the BBC Introducing airwaves I’ve published them here instead.

Remember folks, if you want your music considered for my radio shows, please follow both steps. No upload=no airplay.

*Overseas Artists
BBC Introducing only allows UK-based artists to upload their music for conisderation. However, some acts outside Britain occasionally break this rule by asking a local friend, label, agent or publicist here in the UK to upload tracks on their behalf. Naturally we can’t possibly condone this shocking and flagrant disregard for the BBC’s guidelines, but there’s not much we can do to prevent it.

  1. Poo. I had trouble with the BBC Uploader, which isn’t the first or second time unfortunately, as some days it just doesn’t work for me. I’m told by a couple of BBC people that this is the norm. I planned to try again later, but then life distracted me. Ellie Bleach’s song is now successfully uploaded though. So, play away, if you still would like to. 🙂 It would certainly be very exciting for Ellie and myself.

  2. Hi Tom,

Many thanks for the advice, and taking time to post same.

Pine The Pilcrow have now uploaded all their tracks.
