Every week Signal Committee present an Eclectic Picks playlist. All tracks are selected from the full inbox of 200 tracks that are submitted each week to Fresh On The Net. This week all the credit goes to our special guest curator, FLVZ.
WHAT DO WE LOOK FOR?
Our playlists are orientated to the alternative music fan. Lyrics are not essential, abstract ideas are embraced and the fusing of different genres is encouraged. If you used to write band names on your pencil case at school, you’ll probably like our playlists.
INTRODUCING FLVZ
Once upon a time I drew up a shortlist for the Eclectic Picks and passed it to our singer/synth player, CELC. He returned a photo of a handwritten note listing each artist’s name. The one’s he liked had a tick next to them. One artist had two ticks, with the comment “Love this guy!”. That artist was FLVZ, with his lush, abstract electronica track… Butterfly.
Inspired by hip hop, electronica, Latin and Afro genres, FLVZ is no one trick pony – with a diverse back catalogue which oozes quality. FLVZ recently performed at an Electronic Music Open Mic (EMOM) night in Nottingham, and he’ll be back in action on 24th March in Derby at Dubrek Studios. In the meantime, check out his Eclectic Picks…

LONELY GHXST – All In Your Head. Brilliant soundscape created from sound design and equally brilliant vocals to match
SAMUEL NICHOLSON – West Coast Feeling. Love the vocals on this, wonderfully made overall
UNCLE KID – One Small Step. A wild ride through a sonic sci-fi world
BODGER – You Got It All So Wrong. Brilliant sound, love how the track progresses with more layers of sound added as it develops

ANDRÆ – Arrows. Amazing vocals, really well thought out composition
WARE – Sable Bay. Lush, soothing, very calming listen
LYVA VAMITY – Draw Swords. Solid track, really strong beat and vocals add another whole dimension to the sonic aesthetic
INKFIELDS – Your Head’s In The Sand. Great songwriting, backed some great production and sound design
HANNYA WHITE – Just Yours. Really fascinating listen, I enjoy pieces like these because of how the obscurity of the sonic aesthetic generates curiosity in my mind
