Georgina is set to release her debut EP this summer, and to give us a taste, she’s shared a stripped-back live video of the EP track “4 In The Afternoon.” This video beautifully showcases her honest lyrics and soulful vocals.

Georgina Gale’s song 4 In The Afternoon is a danceable track with an uplifting vibe. It’s the kind of song you could describe as “dance crying” – the story is deep and emotional, but the music makes you want to dance through it. Her music has drawn comparisons to artists like Tune-Yards, Cate Le Bon, and Jenny Hval. Sara has been a Fresh Fave on three previous occasions.

Sara Wolff’s debut single for Lost Map Records, Is It True, is a softly psychedelic and spellbindingly melodic track that delves into themes of creativity and community during challenging times. SARAH JOHNSONE – No Serenade

Next up is rising North East artist Sarah Johnsone. Her alluring vocals might remind you of Amy Winehouse with their provocative and spacey vibe, but her punchy sound is more similar to bands like Wet Leg, Siouxsie and the Banshees, and The Black Keys due to its strong alt-rock edge. Debuting as a solo artist, Sarah gained serious attention with her wistful single Tonight. It was featured on Spotify’s prestigious New Music Friday UK playlist and the soundtrack to the drama movie *Aisha*. She then partnered with a full band and entered indie rock territory with her second release Don’t Wanna Be Your Girl, performing at top venues like Sage Gateshead and Ronnie Scott’s. Sarah has supported acts like Prima Queen, CIEL, Swim School, and She Drew the Gun, and performed at festivals like Victorious, Twisterella, and Stockton Calling. BBC Music Introducing in the North East named her one of their tips for 2023, highlighting her as one of the region’s most exciting new artists.

Her music combines timeless influences with modern inspirations, reflecting the life of a young woman in the North East. With a mix of jazz, soul, R&B, blues, and punk, Sarah creates a unique sound. Sarah Johnsone’s latest track, No Serenade, really showcases why she’s compared to Amy Winehouse. The song stands out with her amazing voice and extraordinary jazz vibes. TOBISONICS – Quintessence Of Dust

Next up is Tobisonics, a versatile Mastering Engineer known for his work under Tobisonics Mastering. He masters a wide range of genres, from darkwave to singer-songwriter, and many of his mastered tracks have enjoyed radio play on stations like BBC Ulster and Merseyside. He also runs a YouTube channel where he shares production techniques, demos, and challenges in his unique, humorous, and chaotic style. Tobi spends much of his free time supporting independent music. As one of the moderators for Fresh on the Net, he plays a crucial role in highlighting new music. He has also written music reviews for Line of Best Fit, MusicTalks, and Brash Magazine. Additionally, Tobi writes about mastering and music production and shares regular mix/production tips on his social media. He runs several playlists to support under-the-radar artists, including his weekly New Independent Music Friday. Tobi has been featured as a Fresh Fave multiple times, and it’s an honour for me to review my fellow moderator.

Tobi’s latest track, Quintessence Of Dust, has an amazing sound with a robotic vibe with what I think is a sampled spoken word dialogue and rumbling and spacy ambient sounds. The track stands out for its unique style and polished production. It’s a must-listen for anyone who enjoys innovative and experimental music.
