Marking 50 years since Tom Robinson’s first album release in 1975 – and 4 decades since his radio debut as a presenter for the BBC World Service in 1985 – we’re delighted to welcome Tom Robinson to the Amazing platform.
As a musician Tom’s been mentored by Alexis Korner and Martin Carthy, written songs with Elton John and Peter Gabriel, toured with The Police, Red Wedge and The Undertones, Rocked Against Racism alongside The Clash, Steel Pulse and X-Ray Spex, been exiled in East Germany and hounded by the tabloids for falling in love with a woman.
As a presenter he’s also hosted programmes on BBC Radios 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 Live and 6 Music, won two Radio Academy Awards, given over ten thousand artists their first national airplay, founded the music blog Fresh On The Net and served for ten years on the Ivor Novello Awards committee.
Tom is proud to be curating a season of 8 weekly shows for Amazing Radio through September and October 2025. The Tom Robinson Show will premier every Saturday from 9pm-midnight (with daytime repeats during the week) presenting his choice of new tunes, modern classics and under-the-radar favourites from the past 20 years.

I’m delighted that Tom is back on air and his show is unquestionably the most positive thing to happen to Amazing Radio in some time, But I must express great reservation about our platform encouraging artists to sign up to Amazing Radio, They claim to support grassroots music but, once you have uploaded ohe track for free, they then demand you pay at least £24 for a package that will make you nothing but will feed their coffers, Their claim to support grassroots music is, at best, spurious when you compare it to stations and shows on Exile FM, Phoenix FM, Cando FM, Cumbernauld FM, Resonance FM, Leyland Radio, Foxy Radio, Islington Radio, Radio Dacorum and various others who support grassroots musi for real and don’t exploit artists’ desire for airplay. In an era where radio play has so little bearing on sales, fanbases or profile, I would advise giving any radio station demanding money for plays a wide berth. Hopefully Tom is able to intercept new music through alternative means as he has done for many years.
