DANIEL KINDE – GONE
One of the best songs I’ve heard since moderating for FOTN. From the artwork to the production “GONE” is a stunning piece. Daniel knows exactly who he is as an artist and I’m all in”.

JOSALEIGH POLLETT-RADIO PLAYER

Radio Player brings together analogue textures, indie rock energy, and pop sensibility that lingers long after it ends. Love it!

KENNEDY ADMINISTRATION – Reject Song (feat. Mark Lettieri)

Kennedy Administration have been on my radar for about a month or so now, I interviewed them for FOTN recently. What stands out on this track is the gospel vocals, and the attitude behind the whole song, it’s bold it’s loud, and the guitar solo from Mark Letterieri is tasty!!! He goes full out rock to blues to jazz… Brilliant.

PETER MCDONNELL – Let’s Play

This is an instrumental where sax meets piano, bass, drums vibraphone, synth and percussion, the melodies explored here are gorgeous and goes at a fair pace before slowing down I’d love to know who played saxophone on this.

GRUBBY

OORYA – MAGIC

A raw, rumbling track with a great energy. A simple repeating hook and some strange sounds feel like a waking dream.

VALESKA AND THE RIVER – Thunder

Wonderfully warm and evocative, this one drips out of the speakers. Its simple elegance effortlessly transports me to another realm.

JOHN MICHIE:

SOCALLOUS – Gone

Excellent use of sampled textures over a slick beat that pulls the listener in completely. Reflective songwriting paired with deep, meaningful verses.

DANIEL KINDE – GONE

Cinematic and introspective electronic music at its finest… brooding and hypnotic. I love how this production is rich in texture, filled with pulsing rhythms and a lush, understated tension.

MIA WILKS:

SUNFLOWER THIEVES-Already Taken

I love how the simple guitar melody blends with the pulse beat of the track – it’s clean and really effective. The vocal tone is beautiful. I love how the vocals have been stacked to give the track a dreamy, atmospheric quality.

MAX RICHARDSON-Right Here

I like the way the vocal chops are used – they add so much texture, and the synths give it a warm, summery energy. The vocals fit the mood perfectly, making the whole song feel uplifting and cohesive.

NEIL MARCH:

YOJI-Cabin In The Woods:

As Alan has already picked my favourite of the week by Josaleigh Pollett, this is my second favourite. Yoji is in characteristically fine voice on this inventive, sophisticated slice of contemporary R’n’B set against sweet piano chords and dreamy synths. Yoji’s vocals, at times, remind me of Deniece Williams in a mash with Angie Stone and compliments, from me, don’t come much higher than that!

J. Chambers – Liberation

At a time when the UK is facing a media-sponsored barrage of far right lies and hate, we need artists who have something to say about unity and togetherness. This track does that to the backdrop of soulful Hip Hop and Reggae vibes.

SHARON PEARCE:

LIA VEYN – Wildfire

Loved the energetic guitar work and the shared vocals that play off each other
adding depth and emotion to the track.

MADISON – Bad Liar

A solid track that delivers both attitude and polish. I enjoyed the vocals and energy.

TONY HARDY:

NEEV – Put A Record On

The connection Neev draws between love and music in this song is perfectly complemented by her vocal delicacy and haunting accompaniment.

THE DREAMING VOID – The Black Stone

An impeccably constructed song with a chorus that is really hard to shake off. Lyrically, it appears to be very personal yet simultaneously intriguing.

  1. Ah thanks to publishing this Del. I think this is a really imaginative new addition to the platform and is, by virtue of involving the team, properly eclectic too. 🙂

  3. Thanks, Del. It was nice to see who some of my fellow Mods selected to highlight. I know some of these choices dovetail with the Fresh Faves but it’s also an opportunity for other acts to have a share of the spotlight. Hope the acts featured will share this article on their own socials.

How do the Alt Picks work? Are these all tracks which mods have favoured but didn’t become Fresh Faves for the week?

  6. Del Osei-Owusu

Hi John, correct – though as this is the first one this has some tracks that did make the faves.
