ALAN DREEZER:

ELOISE FABBRI – Conflicted

A really stylish blend of R&B, soul and pop, with subtle jazz influences running through the production. But for me, the real standout is Eloise’s voice. Her impressive vocal range is used brilliantly, moving effortlessly from the lower register to some soaring moments as the track builds.
Classy, soulful and full of personality!

GUUSE – Timeless

A really cool piece of downtempo electronica from Buenos Aires-based multi-instrumentalist GUUSE. The use of vocoder on the vocals blending beautifully into the electronic soundscape. I particularly like the way organic and electronic textures seem to weave around each other, creating something that feels immersive without ever becoming overworked.

Atmospheric, understated and very easy to get lost in.

DEL OSEI-OWUSU/PLATINUMMIND:

DOPESICKFLY – Go Away

I am a big fan of DOPESICKFLY from a long time ago! Great to see them back on FOTN, they give us a refreshing acoustic dominated number with percussion and great harmonies. This has such a sweet groove to it and add to that the electric piano you had me at hello. This is the perfect remnants of summer song, I love that guitar line that they have going through it.

NESS NOST – Caffeinenicotinenosleepdopamine

Getting lo-fi and dirty this track has a mantra running through it over a drum loop that gives you that feeling this was written with the sparseness in mind, it’s gritty and gives you that inner city vibe. Great track! A little side note I had to practice saying it over and over when recording the title for my show!

SHERRY SAHAYARAJ:

REBECCA PROMITZER – I Want To Lie With You

“I want to lie with you” has such a soft and intimate feeling to it. I really love the vocals on this track which expresses so much of yearning. It feels like a late night song when you are thinking about someone you cant stop missing.

BLUE JAR – Blue Monday

“Blue monday” has a really warm and groovy feeling to it. I really love the way the different sounds come together and give the track its own character. It has such a cool and bright vibe to it. The melody is very catchy.

TONY HARDY:

MY WOOLLY HAT – Finders Keepers

This has a lovely spacious feel to it with ambient textures running through the song. Everything sounds like it has been put through an atmospheric filter from the echoed, distanced vocals to the beats and cymbal flourishes. First introduced after the opening verse, a ringing guitar motif provides an aural hook that is hard to dislodge yet is used sparingly to anchor the song. Towards the end, there is a delightful breakdown that culminates in a flurry of sounds signalling the return of that guitar figure. It’s a keeper!

NICKY PHILLIPS – Cavern

An emotive piano ballad exploring personal grief and loss, “Cavern” resonates with universal feelings that many will relate to, especially the knowingly self-centred feeling of betrayal that comes before acceptance and any closure. The intricacies of grief are beautifully voiced by Nicky with the feeling of pain accentuated by operatic soprano flourishes and a sure command of the lower register in the verses. The choruses are equally memorable in a song that already has the hallmark of a classic.
