The Beaus from Doncaster

This is the best DIY self-introduction by a new act we’ve seen in a long while. Instead of waiting for a national broadcast network or multinational record company to come along and “discover” them, The Beaus have hit the ground running and created their own momentum. Obviously some fairly shrewd managerial mind has organised the making of this video. But the band still come across as natural, unboastful and (above all) ridiculously talented. In this vid they make performing these songs look casual and effortless. But trust me: writing material as fresh and arresting as this – and making it sound this great with a three-piece lineup – is unbelievably difficult. It’s very rare to come across an unknown band with this kind of economy and edge. At 6 Music Introducing we hear literally hundreds of new artists a week – many of them attempting, and most of them failing – to achieve just that. There’s not much justice in the world, but if there was, future success for The Beaus would be a racing certainty. It’s certain they deserve it…
