You get the general idea…
If you were me, would receiving a series of these emails make you more inclined – or less inclined – to seek out this artist’s music and play it on the radio at the earliest opportunity?
Well, inconveniently, the track in question turns out to be not bad at all, as you can hear above. It just arrived in the dropbox for this week’s Listening Post and we can’t really disallow a decent tune just because the artist has been annoying…
So instead I’ve had to content myself with re-posting a grumpy piece from two years ago on the subject of Why Getting All Your Fans To Write In May Not Be Such A Great Idea After All. Check it out here…
And take it from me, submitting nude photos with demos gets you nowhere – no matter how creative the poses or set design. How I long for the ‘good old days’ when I’d get my way by sheer harassment….
To me this looks like all the e-mails were sent from 1 person but different e-mail addresses… Personally I wouldn’t want to hear that kind of artist and would never play them, if there’s no artistic integrity and self respect that you need to spam like this, it’s very likely you don’t care for music or at least that’s not your main objective for what you are doing…
Must say I rather enjoyed your nude photos, Bryan – they certainly made me go and check out the Backyards website in a hurry 🙂
When are you going to upload Goodhart’s Law to our Listening Post?
Not sure how seriously to take comments by somebody called tra whose email address is tralala@lala.com
It’s been a nightmare getting content updates on our website. There’s a lesson to be learned: NEVER start a band website over which the band themselves aren’t in complete control. We’ve probably missed out on a few gigs because the ‘live dates’ section can’t be updated by anyone other than the webmaster. It’s embarrassing and is being sorted.
Tom – I saw your keynote speech at the Unconference and was blown away. It was by far the highlight of the event.
Thanks so much Bryan – greatly appreciated. Really good to hear it hit the spot for you 🙂
Blimey…flipping over kill…..are they all from the same IP address??
As for nude photos accompanying demos….erm….that’d swing it for me Bryan!
