Nearly Home is a soul-soother of a track. Alex really taps into her vulnerability, which makes for vocalised magic over a subtle acoustic backdrop. Alex Carroll makes us, the listener, feel secure and comfortable with her tales of journeying home from what seems like an emotional trip of body and mind.

Alex Carroll is 14-year-old singer-songwriter from London, Nearly Home is her first release and it’s available to stream via Soundcloud.

I.M THE ARTIST – 4am

4am is a tale of reminiscing and struggling to let go of past feelings from a former lover.

I.M the artist brings a creative introspective to the break-up stages we have all been through in the journey we call life; she sings of an internal battle over an intense but subtle backing track.

Armed with lyrical genius and a captivating voice, this track is sure to spark emotions within.

I.M the artist is a London-based singer-songwriter from Gothenburg, Sweden. Her upcoming debut EP entitled Self-Made will be out soon, but in the meantime 4am is currently out on all digital music streaming platforms.

IRINA – How Do You Do

Now this right here ladies, gentlemen and non-gender-specific, is jazz at its finest hour.

Irina offers us fans of vintage jazz a slice of absolute satisfaction. I found myself pressing replay more than five times just for that feeling again.

How Do You Do tells a story of good old romance and passion between two endlessly-in-love souls…. SIMPLY BEAUTIFUL.

MICHAEL BAKER – Baby Books

Baby Books is the type of track you play when you’re driving your hot red Ferrari 458 down Route 66 with an acoustic guitar sitting in the passenger side.

Michael Baker brings us the listener a beautiful, well thought-out masterpiece of a heartbreak track. I don’t know if I should be crying or partying, but I love, love, love it…

Michael is a 28-year-old singer-songwriter from the south of England. Half-French (mother’s side), in his formative years he spent six months of each year in the beautiful French Alps (Saint Gervais) where he first honed his writing skills.

ORA THE MOLECULE – When Earth Took A Breath

When Earth Took A Breath is a synth pop ballad kicking with enchanting melodies and adventure progression.

The moog arpeggio and lead vocal blend beautifully; it’s slightly reminiscent of a missing track from The Never Ending Story OST. I throughly enjoyed this track… more please!

Ghost is a self-reflection song about forgiveness and wanting that old feeling back, featuring powerful lyrics and a haunting soundtrack. Owen Denvir bares his soul on this beauty of a track.

PATAWAWA – That Guy

That Guy is a funky pop jam oozing with glam and attitude. As soon as I pressed play I was teleported back to 1997 when the great sir George Michael unleashed some of his final classics.

Patawawa take you on a soulful funk-filled journey that you will not want to end so soon.

Patawawa consists of Sam Wilmot, Rory Lovatt, and Beth Garrett. In 2018 they were voted as one of NME’s Top 100 bands.

THIS ELEGANT GULL – Stop Giving Us The Poison

That opening guitar lead is so infectious and attention demanding I had to replay this track a couple times.

Stop Giving Us The Poison is a track about waking up to the truth, whatever that may be is not quite clear, but either way I love the energy this track gives off. A bit of rebellion is good, right?…

Not much is known about This Elegant Gull, but I do know she is 12 years old and has a band, which is truly incredible.

TOYGIRL – Reign

Reign is a smooth laidback track that speaks directly to the soul. The vocals are nothing short of amazing and angelic.

This is the type of song you put on after a hard day at the office, kick off your heels and pour a tall glass of wine.

TOYGIRL are a Dublin-based alternative band. This debut single Reign is out now! The band embark on their Irish and UK tour on 28th September.

WOJTEK THE BEAR – Slow TV

Slow TV brings to mind the nostalgic feeling of sitting in front of the TV watching MTV in 1997, dreaming I was in a rock band.

Wojtek The Bear deliver an instant classic with beautiful chord progressions and pre-chorus bridges, plus a semitone up ending which is always a nice touch in my book. My personal favourite this week.

The band consist of Becky, Graham, Martin, Paul and Tam. Wojtek The Bear have had BBC Introducing support by our very own Tom Robinson and also Lauren Laverne.
