A word from Del: Hey everyone, thanks to all the artists who submitted tracks last week, as usual if you want to be considered for airplay on my Exile FM radio show please send an audio file with a bio and to my email thanks everyone! Over to Chiana!

AMALIA – Silhouette

Close your eyes and just imagine. You are at a dinner, in the classiest restaurant in London. You look around and there is a band on stage: the vocalist has the musicians wrapped round her finger – which is wrapped round a glass of champagne. As she holds her fist in the air, the musicians obey her every command, cutting the music at just the right impact points. Remnants of Amy Winehouse’s tone pull through within the smooth tone and soulful roundness to the vocals. So flawless, you question if the music is coming from the jukebox in the corner, but so raw that it can’t be. Now remember where you are. Probably at home, listening from the comfort of your front room? That is the power of music. That is a true experience.

ELOISE FABBRI – Trust You

A distinctive bassline leads this haunting track through the woods. Trust in itself can feel like trying to see the wood for the trees: to trust or to not trust, what is poison ivy and what is an edible leaf. The nature of this track really personifies the experience of trust – a haunting shadow of uncertainty, that could turn out to be poison at any given moment. Eloise Fabbri’s unique vocal range resonates perfectly with the deeper meaning of the composition, echoed by eerie chimes throughout.

FRAN LUSTY – Only In My Dreams

An abstract lullaby, Fran Lusty takes us by the hand through her dreams soundtracked by an undertone of lullaby-esque chimes and bells. I can’t help but think of a book I read about a dream department store: the concept of having an entire other world just behind your closed eyes, where dreams are bought and sold, and exist in their own industry: I feel this song would be the perfect soundtrack should it ever get made into a film.

HADEN & PEPPER – She’s A Fool

“Wanted Dead or Alive” reincarnated in a track floating through the red sky of the desert. With an unusual tone, the vocals hint at a build up which is soon hit by the guitar and call and response instrumental throughout. Held together perfectly by the beat – each musician is able to shine in their own light that complements seamlessly. This is one track I would love to see performed live – to watch the musician’s interaction on stage, to feel the vibe of connection in a captivated room.

NÉOMÍ – Sit Back Baby

With a truly gorgeous voice, this song feels like a virtual hug: a comfort blanket of soothing words in times of need. Sometimes you just need to sit back, take a deep breath and know you have done your best: this is articulated perfectly through this very real portrayal of emotion that is relatable on many levels. A laid-back track with a supportive hint of echoing guitar, smooth bass licks and almost psychedelic-sounding effects, this will definitely be making it onto my relaxation playlist.

OLOVSON – THINGS I COULD

You are back in the same hotel bar as Amalia. You have just watched the band perform, and now the pianist is taking over while you are served a Martini. The atmosphere created is captivated by the sheer talent but the uncertainty of where the track will take you next. Fingers dancing across the keys, echoed with a sense of angelic effect, you sip your drink, looking round at the connections being made in the room around you: friends, family, business exchanges and relationships… and the whole time the same composition bonding people in different moments.

ROE – Lydia

Out of the bar and into an indie road trip! A Sabrina Carpenter country-pop tone sets the light and airy feel of this track. A carefree skip-along with an uplifting essence – a touch of indie, a touch of mystery, sprinkle a bit of fairy dust and you have the recipe for this easy listening summer sing-along. The perfect track to wind the windows down and sing to, this is going to be a summer staple.

THE DIONYSUS ENSEMBLE – Rivers

Flowing through a snake charmer’s forest of magic, ‘Rivers’ encapsulates the magic of the wild and natural beauty of the world with its unpredictability along the way. The ebbs and flows of the water, winding thorough the meandering stream is interrupted by the raging falls and the elements that whirl around. This composition would not be out of place if danced to by Torvill and Dean in place of their Bolero.

THE NOISY – Nightshade

The catchy rhythm and upbeat tempo paired with the descriptive lyricism take the listener on a journey that almost links back to the meandering rivers of The Dionysus Ensemble. A winding thought process that dips in and out of daydreams and snaps back in again with the beat of a drum, this track is a classic daydream-walk soundtrack.

WHITE LINEZ – Always

With tones reflective of Jessie J and Roxette initially, my thoughts then turn to ‘Airplanes’ as soon as the rapping commences. A true uplift if positivity, this track has a lovely balance of reality with the prep talk we all find ourselves searching for on a daily basis. I love how the band gel in this to truly create what feels like a community of shoulders to be lifted upon.

PS from Del: If you’ve submitted a track that hasn’t been picked for the Listening Post, our team has definitely listened to it and there’s no need to send it again: feel free to send us an even stronger track another week. The same goes if you were picked for the Listening Post but didn’t feature in our Fresh Faves.

But if we’ve recently featured you in our Fresh Faves – please wait three months before sending us another track, so we have space to help other deserving artists… For more info see Robinson Has A Good Old Moan.

Chiana

As a self-taught bass player who has always been heavily involved in my local music scene, my passion developed from performing to writing and I launched my blog ‘Music Bubble’ in 2020. Since then, it has taken the form of a blog and podcast, leading to a complete re-launch in 2025 under a new website (https://tr.ee/1IoOCygLjl) The archives can still be accessed here (https://tr.ee/qG5cWwymOw). I also volunteer at Southend Hospital Radio, where I love getting behind the mic to bring a smile to patient’s faces. Oh yes… and I am completely obsessed with shoes!

  1. What imaginative reviews, Chiana. An immersive experience reading this and a great selection of tracks chosen by this week.

Always a pleasure to check out the Fresh Faves.

I don’t usually comment, but I noticed that the “ELOISE FABBRI – Trust You” soundcloud link isn’t showing up in the above listing (as I write this).

    Cheers
