These Fresh Faves were picked by our readers over the weekend – and reviewed by Fresh On The Net’s Sherry Sahayaraj this week. You can hear all these tracks in a single Soundcloud playlist here.

A word from Del: Hey everyone, welcome to our last faves before easter break, we closed a week early because of an issue that’s not likely to be resolved at the time of writing so I’m putting the team into hibernation a week early as we have long a run before the summer break! I want to take this opportunity to say thanks to everyone who’s submitted a track since January we appreciate you! Also thanks to my top tier mods with amazing ears.

Over to you Sherry.

Sherry: Hello Everyone. Easter is on its way and you can feel it in the air; that quiet shift when the cold finally eases up and the sun starts hanging around a little longer. I’m happy to be writing this review at this point in the year, when the days are finally brightening up and everything feels a bit more in rhythm again. This week’s inbox was a strong one, packed with great new sounds. I’m really pleased to have the chance to review them. Each one brings something distinct and memorable to the table. So, let’s jump into this week’s standout picks.

A DIFFERENT THREAD – Leon

From Chapel Hill, North Carolina in the USA come the female-male duo A Different Thread.
They have an album release show in their home town on 1st May but are also gigging extensively throughout the previous month. Despite modestly claiming they could fit their fanbase inside their house, they have clearly been building their reputation as a live act while enjoying respectable streaming numbers too.

A Different Thread’s Leon is a lovely way to start this week’s picks. It has that calm, drifting feeling that suits this time of year so well. It’s got that vintage country track vibe, with nostalgic vocals that pull you right into reminiscing about old road trips, faded memories. My favourite part has to be those harmony sections and the flute part. They’re so warm and layered in such a way to bring that warmth while listening to the track. If you’re into heartfelt folk with a timeless pull this is your track.

CHINWE – Lately

Another Fresh on the Net regular, London’s Chinwe is the harp-playing singer-songwriter and fellow ICMP alumnus whose performance lit up Fresh on the Net Live (Day One) at The Lower Third in 2024. She has been previously featured by BBC Radio 1’s Introducing Show and has been a favourite of our readers, making the faves many times and being featured on the BBC Introducing Mixtape when Tom Robinson was its host.

I really like how the track flows with that soft R&B warmth. Picture it playing as the sun dips low, waves rolling in soft. Those dreamy, hypnotic vocals just float over everything, wrapping you up in this unique haze. If you’re into mellow soul/R&B tunes that settle right in, give this one a listen.

CITY LIMITS – Missing Piece

Trumpet toting, guitar playing artist and producer, London’s City Limits has created his own unique hybrid of electronic, synth-based music and his Instagram and TikTok accounts chart his artistic journey.

Missing Piece feels like a gentle pause in the middle of everything. It carries a soft, reflective mood that slowly settles in as the track unfolds. The trumpet adds so much colour to the chorus, giving it a signature sparkle that makes the track stand out. Subtle backing vocals appear in unexpected places, adding depth and keeping the listener engaged throughout. Overall, it’s a track that’s both reflective and joyful.

CLT DRP – WHAT IS SHE FOR?

Brighton’s CLT DRP are a band on a mission. Having already benefitted from being championed by BBC 6 Music and Radio X and playing their first festival stages, they are building a fanbase the traditional way by getting out there and wowing live audiences including having played a tour in 2025.

What’s She For? is a striking shift in energy for this week’s picks. It carries this raw, slightly unfiltered edge that pulls you in straight away. The vocal delivery feels expressive and almost restless, adding to the track’s character. It’s interesting how the sound shifts and evolves, keeping things interesting without losing its edge. If you’re into tracks that feel bold, this one definitely leaves an impression.

DIGSBY – Long Time Dead

Next we go to Bristol in the West of England for Digsby. Buoyed by BBC Introducing support, they have created their ‘new big sound’ with vocal harmonies and epic instrumental arrangements. February saw the release of their album ‘Death Of The Party’ and there is an album launch gig in Bristol at Hen & Chicken (27th March) this week.

Long Time Dead is such an enjoyable listen from start to finish. The fast-paced instrumental instantly grabs you, giving the track a lively and energetic feel. There’s a freshness in the sound that makes it feel modern, yet full of character. My favourite part has to be the guitar section in the middle. It adds a real spark to the track. If you enjoy upbeat, high-energy songs with standout guitar moments, this one is definitely worth your time.

FOUR-LEGGED FRUIT – Wherever We Stay (Radio Edit)

Returning fresh faves and long-time besties Rosa and Elise from Bath in the West of England are Four-Legged Fruit. The pair have become a favourite of our readers with their often macabre story telling lyrics and a style that brings contemporary classical harmonic and structural concepts to bear on their quirky original Alt Pop style.

Wherever We Stay is a truly ethereal listen that immediately draws you into its world. The hypnotic vocals feel almost dreamlike, floating effortlessly over the instrumental and giving the track a sense of quiet magic. There’s a fantasy-like vibe running through every layer, making it feel like you’re stepping into another realm while listening. The production is delicate but rich, with harmonies and textures that shimmer subtly in the background, adding depth without ever overwhelming the dreamy atmosphere.

HANNAH ROBINSON – Ruining The Moment

Next we head for the North East of England and Newcastle-Upon-Tyne where we find the shoegazey Alt Rock artist Hannah Robinson. Recipient of a BBC Introducing Track of the Week award in 2025 and again in 2026, Hannah has been songwriting since the age of 12. Lasy year saw her band appear at the Truck Festival.

Ruining The Moment is a vibrant and engaging track that instantly pulls you in. Right from the start, there’s a warm shoegaze-Alt Rock energy. The chorus is incredibly catchy, sticking with you long after the song ends, and the lyrics are memorable. If you’re into Alt Rock that’s melodic, immersive, and full of character, this track is a standout.

HANNAH SCOTT – In Your Light

Not only does Hannah Scott have a history of making the fresh faves that goes back to 2012 but Tom Robinson, when reviewing her back then, also mentioned working with her at a songwriting retreat in 2008. He also described her as a musician who had ‘paid her dues’ and was making an assault on the BBC Radio 2 playlist. She is about to play another impressive tour around the UK and is a regular festival performer too.

In Your Light feels gentle and uplifting right from the first note. Hannah’s voice carries a soft clarity that makes the track feel personal and inviting.

There’s a sense of warmth and calm that runs through the song, making it easy to get lost in. The lyrics are simple but thoughtful, giving the song a sincerity that stays with you. If you enjoy tracks that are melodic, emotive, and quietly powerful, this is one to keep on repeat.

MOMA – Criminals

The Moma website talks about making music from ‘… the bustling streets of London to the beauty and tranquility of York’. This female-male duo don’t have a long history on their social media suggesting they are a relatively new act but they have been developing their brand of Indie Folk and have released three singles since 2024.

Criminals is a captivating Indie Folk track that immediately draws you in. There’s a grounded, authentic feel to it. The vocals from both members complement each other beautifully, weaving together to create a sound that feels intimate yet expansive. The selection of instruments add lots of colour to the track. The lyrics are thoughtful and storytelling, giving the song a reflective, almost cinematic quality. If you enjoy Indie Folk that feels fresh, heartfelt this track is for you.

SHANE SATO & BOX DREAMS – Deep Dive

Japanese-American artist Shane Sato is based in Los Angeles and his debut album topped over one million streams! Box Dreams appears to be a quintet of which Shane is also a member, hence the collaboration on this track. Shane is a multi-instrumentalist whose skills include playing drums, guitar, piano and trombone and his rich musical background is reflected by the versatility in his writing.

Deep Dive opens with a beautifully dreamy soundscape that immediately pulls you in. Adam Rhodes, lead singer of of Box Dreams’ vocals are both impressive and emotional, floating effortlessly over the instrumental and setting a reflective, almost cinematic mood. The guitar work is especially striking. The production as a whole is layered and rich. Each instrument has its moment to shine on the track. Overall, Deep Dive is a track that feels immersive, emotive, and leaves a lasting impression.
