ATLAS EYES – Laura [starts 00:17]
http://www.atlaseyes.com
“Atlas Eyes are a thrilling brand of muscular, arty post-punk. Captivating and properly, properly excellent tunes. Textured, studied and flawlessly executed. Described as vividly anthemic, their songs charm with glowing and smooth vocal harmonies. Atlas Eyes’ Debut EP is out now. Available on iTunes, Spotify, Amazon and all the regulars. Find them on Facebook, Twitter and Soundcloud, or on their website.”
LAIL ARAD – Milo [starts 04:24]
https://www.facebook.com/lailaradmusic
“Lail Arad‘s second album The Onion was released through The Vinyl Factory in April 2016. Co-produced between a snowy winter in Geneva and a summer heat wave in NYC, it is a striking marriage of assured maturity and childlike spirit. The record is a follow up to the London-born singer songwriter’s 2011 debut Someone New and was let loose after a run of teaser tracks and artful videos including Lay Down, Milo and When We Grow Up. Press and public alike have been quick to pick up on Lail’s lyrical and vocal dexterity, often hailing her as the modern answer to rock’n’roll songwriting heroes, Lou Reed, Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen et al. As well as a limited edition vinyl (each hand-signed with a different lyric from the album), The Society Club bookshop have published Lail’s first book of lyrics to coincide with the release.
The album launch tour kicks off with a home-town show on May 17th at Chats Palace, followed by these European dates and summer festivals: May 17th London, Chats Palace; May 18th Paris, La Boule Noire; May 19th Brussels, Bonnefooi; May 20th Cologne, Yuca; May 21st Berlin, Privatclub; May 22nd Amsterdam, Paradiso Noord; May 30th Leeds, This Must Be The Place; July 22nd France, Festival De La Cour Denis; July 24th UK, Secret Garden Party; July 29th UK, Port Eliot Festival; September 2nd-4th UK, End Of The Road”
SHIELDS – Swallow Me [starts 06:59]
http://www.behindshields.com/
“Shields have recorded two tracks at the legendary RAK Studios in London: the place
where Radiohead cut The Bends, and where David Bowie, and Pink Floyd came to
record. The tracks will be released as part of The RAK Singles Club, which gives new and emerging artists the chance to use RAK’s world-class recording facilities, and release a limited edition 7” single in the iconic house signature packaging (audiences of a certain age will no doubt recall this as high quality vinyl tucked into a blue paper bag and bearing the image of a ship).
The single’s A-side, Swallow Me, sees the band continue to explore their riff-fuelled rock side, following quite naturally on from January’s single Alive, (‘Math rock without the cumbersome calculus’, The Guardian). The single’s B-side is Shields’ original take on Kim Wilde’s classic Chequered Love, incidentally recorded in the same studio, on the very same desk, as the original song. Shields offer a much gentler rendition of the track before eventually sacrificing the cautious restraint in the opening few minutes in favour of a satisfyingly euphoric ending. Shields’ entry into the RAK Singles Club will be available from 27th May 2016 as a limited edition 7” vinyl, the first fifty copies of which will be signed by the band, and on all major digital platforms from 3rd June 2016.”
KEVIN P GILDAY+THE SEA KINGS – Glasgow Overture [starts 11:22]
http://www.theseakings.com
A raw, unfettered collaboration bringing together the modern gothic of The Sea Kings and the confessional delivery of Kevin P. Gilday – an unholy alliance of music and literature. Kevin P. Gilday (The Man Who Loved Beer), an award-winning spoken word artist, and The Sea Kings (Woke In The Devil’s Arms), a critically lauded Bad Seeds for tomorrow, bring you their treatise on their home city of Glasgow. In Glasgow Overture we witness Red Clydesiders and Merchant City 4×4’s – a Glasgow riddled with modern hypocrisy, a Glasgow filled with beauty, a Glasgow where power meets poverty and where surprisingly the sun always shines. Available now as a double A-side single with Beast Be With You. Our upcoming one-night-only gig takes place at Glasgow’s Glad Cafe on 12/6/16.
PUMAROSA – Cecile [starts 15:21]
https://www.facebook.com/pumarosamusic/
“London five-piece Pumarosa are a band who assembled from unexpected and varied quarters. Isabel met drummer Nick at a rehearsal for a new band in a rundown Homerton pub and when no one else showed up the pair formed a guitar-and-drums Punk duo and began writing and rehearsing in the basement. After moving to a warehouse in Manor House, they met Henry, Tomoya and Neville and began a period of intensely hot rehearsal in a 10’ x 10’ chipboard room.
Upcoming shows: Headline ICA, 7th May; The Great Escape, LOBF, 19th May; Supporting Shura, KOKO, June 1st
Plus festival performances (UK and Europe) including Latitude, Eurockeennes, Melt and Midi to name a few.”
FIREWOODISLAND – All in Line [starts 18:53]
http://www.firewoodisland.com/
“Let’s go on a ramble, loosen the ‘chords’ of the ordinary and set foot into the rustic sound of Celtic Viking Music. With infectious, solid vocal harmonies, marching beats, haunting melodies and a soundscape decorated with small organic details, Firewoodisland speaks of a tangible past and an ever present future. A band with wings and roots. During the sleepy autumn months of 2010 Viking descendant Stian Vedøy set sail in his longship to embark on the shores of Cardiff, South Wales. New lands and legends soon inspired him to begin his journey in a solo project, Firewoodisland, translated from his family name. In the following 3 years he was joined by local folk and travelers, who together, found a magical sound. They came from near and far, north, west and east in search of their futures. Expect uplifting tunes, joyful skipping, mesmerizing stories, enchanting anthems and an exciting fusion of unusual instruments. Creativity and artistry are the campfire they dance around.”
LÁNRE – Human [starts 21:51]
https://lanreworld..com/
“British singer-songwriter Lánre has released her 3rd record on 29th April 2016. A 4-song EP called Human is her take on what unifies us as people. The official EP launch is May 27th at Omnibus in Clapham Common. As well as touring Canada, France, NYC and Sweden, Lánre has taken her unique sound of Acoustic Soul, Folk and captivating storytelling influenced by her Yoruba heritage to the Royal Albert Hall, Greenbelt Festival, Edinburgh Fringe, Bath Music Festival, Folkstock Festival, Musicport Festival and the Brighton Fringe among others. Lánre currently curates a monthly residency at the Omnibus.”
PANAMA PAPERS – Burned A Book [starts 25:13]
https://www.facebook.com/panamapaperssongs/
Panama Papers describe themselves as follows:
“Borderline fabulist/confessionalist. Synths and microphones and claps and tambourines. Hot threeway with Fyodor Dostoevsky and Simone de Beauvoir. Book obsessive – at least one writer or book per song. Animals. No offshore business. The sound has been described as profound disco ala be bop.”
RED CABLE SUNDAY – Relentless (Submeto Shortcuts mix) [starts 27:52]
http://redcablesunday.com/
“Red Cable Sunday is the music project of musician and campaigner Denis Fernando. Denis draws on experiences as an activist in anti-racist and student campaigns. He also performed as a drummer during the industrial revolution sequence in Danny Boyle’s opening ceremony of the London Olympics in 2012. Red Cable Sunday’s debut single Prelude to the Nocturne (2010) was featured on Radio 2 (Alan Titchmarsh) and Radio 3 (Late Junction). The video for new single ‘Relentless’ explores themes of persistence and courage against all odds, set in a dystopian London. Red Cable Sunday’s music is on itunes and other major music platforms. A debut album is currently under production with a release due later this year.”
SHINERS – 19 Again [starts 30:55]
http://www.weareshiners.co.uk/
“Shiners are launching in 2016 with brand new track 19 Again on the 13th May. The song is a tongue-in-cheek tale about looking for love in the modern world. This is Shiners at their loudest, yet combining influence from bands such as the Longpigs with ’70s punk legends The Stranglers in the way only these lads can. 2015 saw the band support DMAs, Nothing But Thieves and The Bohicas as well as receiving great radio airplay from BBC 6 Music’s Steve Lamacq, Radio X’s John Kennedy & Jo Good, BBC Introducing In London with Gary Crowley + many more. Now after a string of dates with chums Model Aeroplanes, SHINERS play a headline show at The Social, London on Wednesday 27th April.”
THE KING’S PARADE – Gathering The Pieces Of A Broken Heart [starts 33:59]
http://www.thekingsparade.com
“Since the formation of The King’s Parade in 2012, the four-piece’s assured touch of classic Detroit blues with melodic, crossover pop has frontman Olly Corpe and his band evoking the crafted sounds of Jamie Woon, Leon Bridges and Son Little. Since releasing their debut Vagabond EP last year as well as a string of singles including Bunched Up Letters and Silhouette, The King’s Parade have seen themselves picking up critical acclaim across CLASH, NOTION, EARMILK and THE EVENING STANDARD. They also independently sold out London’s OSLO on the last leg of their debut sold-out European tour – echoing a growing number of hype acts growing fanbases and selling out large venues completely under the radar. This is a classic sound honed by musicians that were previously playing together more than 40 hours a week on a Hawaiian cruise ship. Think the Beatles’ unknown early gigs in Hamburg’s strip clubs and you’re about there. Continuing with their signature style on new release Gathering the Pieces of a Broken Heart, they continue to refine a new blues blueprint that’s seeing a loyal and expectant fanbase growing by the day. An open letter of love and loss, the track further cements The King’s Parade’s status as one of the most naturally talented and hustling young acts this year.
Live Shows: May 13th: Off the Cuff, Herne Hill, London, UK; June 4th: Camden Rocks Festival, Brewdog, London, UK; June 10th: Bar FortyTwo, Worthing, UK (free entry); July 13th: Berlin, Auster Club, DE; July 14th: Hamburg, freundlich + kompetent, DE; July 15th: Bremen, Breminale Festival, DE; July 16th: Wuppertal, Utopiastadt, DE.”
INSTITUTES – Golden Egg [starts 37:21]
http://www.institutesband.co.uk/
“Pretty/gritty Birmingham band Institutes believe in expressive, memorable songs that aren’t afraid to connect, and then give and give. Their occasionally grunge-tinged ‘Prog-Pop’ can range from compelling, heartfelt intimacy to frenetic, colossal riffery – underpinned by the fearless swoops of singer, Gareth Griffiths and a rhythm section that just won’t quit. The band chase moments of transcendence – for audience and artist – in all that they do; the soundscapes and feelings explored – both in their faithful live shows and first demo cuts – show that Institutes are capable of bottling some of that magic for repeat performances. Well versed in their city’s great legacy, Institutes aren’t shy of wanting to, once again, show just what guitar music is capable of. Tongue-in-cheek, Golden Egg lays out some of their wares, but many surprises from this band are just around the corner…”
LAZYREVS – Rabbit Hole [starts 41:00]
https://www.facebook.com/lazyrevs
“LazyRevs are a two piece band formed in Dublin Ireland : Nadine Keogh and Tom O Connor. We’ve been playing and recording music together since 2014. For the last few months we’ve been travelling around Europe in our VW campervan Declan, writing and recording new music.

https://www.facebook.com/sleuthsounds

Currently playing the Secret Sleuth Tour appearing at an unknown venue, at an unknown time, the summer is hosting full band shows to communicate the songs as they were recorded (details to be confirmed). CRUDE OIL INC – St-Itch [starts 52:03]
https://www.facebook.com/crudeoilinc
“Crude Oil Inc are primarily oil men, draining the planets lifeblood for a pretty penny and warm feet. We have only recently decided to branch out towards the music sector to secure our customer base before peak oil hits us. We write/record and mix everything ourselves and can be seen playing at The Eagle Inn on June 10th in Manchester. St-Itch was written inside a wardrobe that contained four people.”
