BBC Introducing Mixtape

BBC Introducing was founded in 2007 as a way for new, independent and grassroots artists to bypass the record industry. It allows them to get heard by BBC producers and DJs without having to spend a fortune on pluggers, publicists or other intermediaries.

I listen to hundreds of tracks a month: some recommended by BBC Introducing colleagues – plus everything sent to us here at Fresh On The Net. The BBC Introducing Mixtape showcases 60 minutes of the finest tunes you’ve never heard every Monday morning at 2am on BBC Radio 6 Music.

The BBC Introducing Mixtape
NB to be eligible for airplay under BBC rules, all tracks need to have been uploaded to the BBC Introducing website. No upload = no airplay.

Each show is also available as a podcast from the BBC 6 Music downloads page – and as a curated playlist on the BBC Music website.  Track titles, start times and artist links can be found each week on the BBC Introducing Blog.

    Hi Tom,

thank you for the selection every week I really enjoy this.

Do you plan to put the three line comments back onto the track-listings?

    I am missing those.

It was a really great intro to the bands and I think they appreciate this too.

    Cheers thilo

Hi Thilo – I now introduce all the tracks each week in the mixtape itself – so the comments are spoken rather than posted as text. It’s a lot more work, but we hope the bands and artists will appreciate the extra effort. Our tracklists on the BBC Blog still show the start time for each track in the podcast and the URL for each artist’s homepage so that listeners can find more music and information from all the featured artists.
