ALESSI’S ARK – Born Free
I was lucky enough to be a part of a podcast interview with Alessi and her bandmate / fiancee Jason last month for an in-depth conversation about the journey of an artist, that being said leads me to Born Free, which is a magical sounding dream world of a track (p.s Loving those synths, Jay).
Alessi’s Ark provide us, the listener, with a top quality track. It’s always a joy when Alessi’s Ark submit through Fresh On The Net 🙂
Alessi’s Ark is the musical project of London-based musician, Alessi Laurent-Marke. Alessi and her ark mate, Jason Santos, who record between London and East Sussex and draw inspiration from faith, nature and their mutual appreciation for long walks in the city and countryside. CAPTAIN OF THE LOST WAVES – Berlin Between the Wars
Berlin Between The Wars starts off with a truly beautiful romantic accordion, shortly followed by a story-tell echoing the feels of a classic Disney movie. Captain Of The Lost Waves demands your attention, as he sings from the top of his voice (IT’S LIKE BERLIN BETWEEN THE WARS).
I absolutely love this track, it’s a musical, and who doesn’t love a good musical hey!!
These are the lost stories and the hidden gems, much like The Captain himself! He revels in the underground, the magical unseen, the mystical otherworldly-ness of realms often overlooked and consigned to the shadows. Berlin between the wars is ready to stream now…

CHEERBLEEDERZ – Staying Up Late
Happy-go-lucky sunshine rock at its finest, I automatically get transported back to my youth while listening to Staying Up Late.
The vocals really complement the backdrop of the beat; I can listen to this song over and over again. GREAT JOB CHEERBLEEDERZ.
One of my favourites this week by far.
Cheerbleederz are an all female 3-piece band consisting of Kathryn Woods, Phoebe Cross, and Sophie MacKenzie. Put simply, Cheerbleederz are something on an indie-pop super group. Featuring members of Happy Accidents, Fresh and Finish Flag – they merge everything that’s brilliant about DIY indie-pop, and in Faceplant, they released one of the most unexpected debut EPs of last year. Staying Up Late is streaming now…

CHROME OF DEFTEX – Eternal Sunshine
Oh yeah, this is what I’m talking about, a bit of trip-hop on a Monday morning. Chrome of DefTex gives us hard-hitting raps over a funky sounding backdrop reminiscent of the likes of Public Enemy.
“I fight for the love so we can all carry on”, External Sunshine is exactly what it says on the tin, A RAY OF LIGHT.
I’m loving the positive message on this track… FIGHT THE POWER!!!
Chrome is a member of legendary late 80’s UK hip hop collective DefTex. Eternal Sunshine is streaming now…

DAVID GORMAN – Curses
David Gorman delivers a wonderful song with beautiful soulful melodies. This is the type of track you put on after a long day at work and your need for a relaxing moment.
David Gorman sings of life tribulations and the understanding of emotions, Curses has just been added to my list of favourites this week… Great job.
The DIY process is integral for David Gorman when it comes to his music. After studying Music Production at University he claims he feels obliged to prove to himself that it wasn’t money for nothing. He spent the following year performing across the UK starting with his hometown of Manchester. Curses is streaming now.

GLENN MALTMAN – I Took My Hat Off To You
I Took My Hat Off To You is an incredible spoken word track — the tone in which Glenn Maltman talks is so comforting to the ears and my soul yearns for more.
I Took My Hat Off To You is truly an inspirational track that will give you courage and the will to strive at whatever it is you do.
Glenn Maltman of County Durham in the UK, has composed for TV Indie Film and Radio and he’s a keyboard player too. Composing and recording Instrumental music from piano soundscapes to orchestral. I Took My Hat Off To You is streaming now…

JODIE NICHOLSON – Losing Track
Losing Track is a hell of a track (you see what I did there); the build up is nothing short of epic, the overdub of the harmonies and the gradual rise of the drum beat really create an atmosphere full off emotion.
Jodie Nicholson has beautiful tone to her voice, and if she keeps the quality up it’s only a matter of time before she is a household name.
Jodie is a 23-year-old singer/songwriter from Hurworth, on the outskirts of Darlington. Her homespun, debut album Golden Hour was released 27 September and is available both digitally and physically. Losing Track is streaming now…

ORANJ SON – Break Yr Fall
Oranj Son give us a reverb-filled electropop banger of a track. You get completely lost in the atmospheric bliss of ecstasy and spiralling melodies.
Break Yr Fall is the type of track that screams for your attention, definitely not the type you play as background noise.
Thanks Oranj Son for submitting this to Fresh On The Net.
Oranj son consist of band members Kieran Linford, Matthew Linford, Harry Parr, Lew Yii, Nick Jones. Hailing from Liverpool. Break Yr Fall is streaming now.

THE C33S – Resurrection Men
This track is screaming with enthusiasm from the first 5 seconds, an absolute party banger of a track.
Resurrection Men somewhat reminds me of a cross between the Artic Monkeys and The Beach Boys, I’m loving the energy on this song and the guitars are glorious. At only two minutes and some change long you will definitely rewind this song more that a couple times. The C33s executed absolutely perfectly, and this is definitely my favourite of the week.
The C33s are an alternative punk/rock trio from the North West of England consisting of Judy Jones (drums, vocals), Cav Green (guitar, vocals) and Ste Phillips (bass). Their March ’19 debut single, Manic Depression, earned amazing reactions, and wide radio play including Huw Stephens on BBC Radio 1 and Chris Hawkins in BBC Radio 6 Music.

VALLEY OF THE CROW – Smile
Smile is a track made in electropop heaven bursting life and joys, the hypnotising melody takes you on a wild journey fully of synths and unexpected chord changes.
Valley Of The Crow really knocked the ball out of the park with this one in terms of production quality, one of the best I’ve heard this week. AMAZING JOB…
Valley Of The Crow is an electric band from Wales. I was not able to find much else about them online, but Smile is streaming now.

PS from TR: If you’ve submitted a track that hasn’t been picked for the Listening Post, our team has definitely listened to it and there’s no need to send it again: feel free to send us an even stronger track another week. The same goes if you were picked for the Listening Post but didn’t feature in our Fresh Faves.
But if we’ve recently featured you in our Fresh Faves – or on my BBC Introducing Mixtape – please wait three months before sending us another track, so we have space to help other deserving artists… For more info see Robinson Has A Good Old Moan.
Another cracking set of reviews by the inimitable JFlames. So good to read reviews where the enthusiasm and knowledge of subject are so infectious.
Thanks so much to all the readers that took the time to listen and vote for our track ‘Smile’. We are truly thrilled to be in this week’s Fresh Faves x
