MUNCLE – Glass To The Wall [starts 00:17]
Muncle is a British pop/rock multi-instrumentalist based in Bristol. After releasing a string of successful EPs, the first Muncle full length album (Hot Brain) was made available in July last year. Hot Brain received a warm reception, and Glass To The Wall was even included in the Alcopop! Records Cassette Store Day release. As a live act Muncle has grown from one man and a guitar into a multimedia experience featuring projections of himself playing the other instruments (much like his videos found at ). Blending his love of 90s Britpop, and music from Britain’s heavier scenes that featured the likes of Reuben and Hundred Reasons, Muncle seeks to keep the spirit of those groups alive while maintaining a high level of craftsmanship in every area. Muncle is due to gig next on April the 28th at The Crofter’s Rights in Stokes Croft.”

KATE DOUBLEDAY – Spring [starts 04:21]
Kate Doubleday is based on the west coast of Wales and her song Spring features on her new album flutter (out on Copper Records) with Trevor Lines on Double bass, Dan Wilkins on guitar, Marie Smith on cello and produced by Martin Levan at Red Kite Studio in Carmarthenshire. Bethan Elfyn (BBC Wales) described flutter as “truly beautiful”. As a gardener she is constantly inspired by nature and her song Spring reflect this. She regularly performs at venues within nature reserves across the UK is very at home performing with her band acoustically to audiences in small venues alongside the surrounding wildlife and landscape. This year they hope to embark on a floating Flutter boat Tour.”

SIMON SCARDANELLI – Talk About Glory [starts 07:16]
“Indie-folk maverick Simon Scardanelli‘s 4th solo album Make Us Happy sees a return to his roots with a ramshackle ensemble of accordions, fiddle, cajon, clarinet, soprano sax, guitars, mandolin and turkish cumbus in eclectic and unusual arrangements perfectly suited to his quirky original songwriting. From a song describing the perilous journey of a migrant, to the intimate confessions of a well-used dagger. Think Squeeze in an Egyptian souk, 3 Daft Monkeys on steroids, or Beirut. Talk About Glory, the first single from the album, is a couch-potato’s rumbustious ramshackling ride through his fevered imagination, name checking Duncan Bannatyne & Vladimir Putin whilst wishing he was someone else.”

THE AUTOCLAUS – Valentine’s Time [starts 10:43]
The AutoClaus is an electronic music project created by Frank Foy, from Wolverhampton. All the music and voices on Valentine’s Time are computer generated by Frank and the themes are from the mind of the machines. The “auto clause” relates to things that happen automatically by cause and effect, things that occur whether you like it or not! Christmas, Valentine’s Day and many other occasions come round automatically and The AutoClaus tracks reflect this fact. On a deeper level the machines that do the talking on the tracks are explaining to us humans that, if we enable them with artificial intelligence for example, then we should expect automatic consequences as a result! Frank is working on The AutoClaus album. Valentine’s Day comes round each year and one day women might be created for all the lonely men to love! In Valentine’s Time – The AutoClaus imagine her as an eternal Valentine, ‘programmed for love’ and waiting for her ‘single deep red rose…’ The track was released on 22nd January as a digital single and is also a free download on SoundCloud.”

NINE TONS – No Go [starts 14:02]
Nine Tons formed in Tyneside in 2015 after Duncan Lovatt (vocals, guitar) met with Mark Cliff (drums), Dylan Wake (bass, vocals) and Yin Mo (guitar). They have crafted a lively sound that has been described as playful, shouty and perhaps a little bit angry about something or other. Duncan Lovatt was also responsible for naming and co-writing the early songs of Ten Benson which received strong support from the BBC’s Peel, Lamacq, Radcliffe and Riley. If you liked that early Ten Benson stuff, you’ll find many of its more treasured elements here, and a lot more besides. No Frills is the debut album from Nine Tons and is available now on their own Shaüt Recordings. See for details. Nine Tons are a lot about performing live and they have dates coming up at The Cluny, Newcastle on 30 January and The Central, Gateshead on 5 March 2016.

BRAND NEW MOON – The Blue Hour [starts 20:42]
Brand New Moon is “a new project from Mike Barrett (of London band, Fiction) and Meg Woof. We are currently working on our debut album.”

BENBO – Nurvel Durd [starts 00:00]
“Me and my band are waiting to confirm our next gig” says Benbo “which looks like being at the Brixton Dogstar on Easter Thursday. We’ll be celebrating the release of my 2015 Bundle (March 4), which collects everything I released in 2015 (naturally), and possibly we’ll also be in the runup to a new single. Last August I knocked Foals off the top of Indie Shuffle’s Alternative chart, thanks to Gordon Raphael mixing my song If You Feel Emotional and Mandy Parnell mastering it. I have a whole album recorded, I just need the money to make every single sound the best it can. Nurvel Durd was intended as a fun throwaway instrumental but lots of people like it, I think we got better at sending promos. Please look at our ace animated video and visit the Benbo website for ways to support. Thank you for your ears!”

HUGH REILLY-SMITH – Pick A Lover [starts 24:46]

CHRISTA VI – Every Time [starts 30:10]
Christa Vi has been crafting her sound over a number of years both independently and through collaborations with fellow artists such as Box of Wolves from Canada and Australian songwriter Ben Salter (ABC Music). This song builds on her confident new synthpop direction, whilst retaining the song and personal lyrics as the focus. This latest offering ‘Every Time’, was co-produced with multi-instrumentalist Andrew McDonnell (SUNS, Petite Noir, Crystal Fighters) and once again shows off Christa’s knack for a pop hook, this time a simple lament about the round-a-bout emotions of remaining in a dysfunctional relationship. Christa Vi’s debut album is due out at the end of summer 2016 on her own label Tangelo Records.”

POLO – Visions Of Fortune [starts 39:20]
“Yorkshire duo Polo (formed of vocalist Kat McHugh and synth man Luke Lount) might hail from Leeds, but the pair’s glacial atmospherics and lush, r’n’b-tinged pop are an ethereal world away from the spit’n’sawdust DIY scene that the city’s best known for. Formed in 2014, the pair released hypnotic, woozily seductive debut single ‘Party Talk’ later that year and racked up performances at annual inner-city festivals Live At Leeds, Tramlines and Long Division, as well as supporting the likes of Bipolar Sunshine and Charlotte OC. Now, Polo return with their most instantly catchy and accomplished track to date, Visions Of Fortune.”

BENJI TRANTER – The Launderette Song [starts 42:25]

The Well Adjusted Individuals are keyboard player Dan Bramley and drummer Jovis Lane.”

SINK OR SOAR – (This Isn’t) The Talkies [starts 44:40]
Sink or Soar are a brand new 3 piece guitar band from Southsea. They enjoy gazing wistfully into the middle distance, the snooker and repeats of Columbo. Although they listen exclusively to only death metal and free-form jazz in their spare time, the music they make together is much more along the lines of early-REM or Orange Juice with hints of Scott Walker and Elvis Costello along the way. They have released their first EP, imaginatively titled EP ONE to coincide with their debut gig in Portsmouth at the end of February.”

KATIE MAC – Drugs And Older Women [starts 47:38]
Katie Mac emerged onto Liverpool’s music scene in 2013 and having been described to ‘croon like a fallen dreamer’, (Bido Lito!) her folk-oriented guitar playing, accompanied by an eclecticism of lyrical narratives, have grew to become what so many city locals know and love. After playing Liverpool’s most famous venue The Cavern along with city-based festivals Sound City and Liverpool’s International Music Festival, Katie Mac has become familiar with regional radio stations and local insiders within the music industry. Still, having expanded from the charming simplicity of her renowned acoustic sets, to performing with her own new band, it is not difficult to understand why. Upcoming Gigs: 27.02.16 Lost Inhibitions Festival Constellations, Liverpool; 11.03.16 The Salford Arms, Salford; 24.03.16 Baltic Social, Liverpool; 16.04.16 229, London”

HOT COPS – Passive Passive [starts 50:53]
“2015 was a busy year for Hot Cops. Following plays from BBC Radio 1 and 6 Music, the Belfast based trio played the Introducing Stage at BBC’s Big Weekend Festival, as well as supporting The Front Bottoms and The Orwells. Drawing influence from the likes of Deerhunter, Pavement, and Cloud Nothings, the young group have shaped an original sound normally unavailable to those at such a young age. 2016 is set to be their breakthrough year, with a series of 7″s coming out on independent label, Paper Trail Records. Passive Passive is set to release on February 3rd with a launch show in Sweeney’s Bar Dublin and 9th February in Lavery’s Belfast.”

OVVLS – Pain Is Beauty [starts 55:26]
“Experimental duo OVVLS (pronounced ‘Owls’) emerge on the scene with the Recrudescence Series of three singles to be released in 2016, the first of which being Pain Is Beauty. The track, co-produced with Brian Campbell of Clinic, is released 1st February. Residing in the outskirts of the city, OVVLS are a duo captivated by unearthing beauty in the darkest of places. Drawing inspiration from the natural world, their enchanting lyrics, bellowing vocals and hypnotic rhythms act as lullabies for even the most restless of souls. The Recrudescence Series was written during the cold, dark months of late 2014/early 2015, and draws inspiration from the band’s journey turning their insides out, and rediscovering themselves musically. Each vinyl release will feature an unmarked B-side track, which acts as a yang to the A-sides yin, presenting spoken word poetry, which denotes the positivity the duo found from their journey.”
