NATIVE SONS – Pictures [starts 00:17]
http://www.nativesonsofficial.tumblr.com
Native Sons make visceral and enveloping sonic landscapes to sink into. Comprised of two brothers and a childhood friend, their influences include Animal Collective, Radiohead and Mac Demarco. The band are currently gearing up to record their first full-length LP and are due to start in earnest at the beginning of next year. Pictures’ accompanying music video (directed by Kyle Chase) can be viewed here.

ESTHER JOY LANE – Second Hand Heart [starts 04:35]
http://estherjoylane.co.uk
Esther Joy Lane is a self-taught producer and singer-songwriter from Oxford. Influenced by the likes of Astronauts, etc., Deptford Goth and Grimes, she blends electronics and r&b beats with synths and guitars. This year she has been performing her live set around venues across Oxford and London, supporting bands including Little Comets, AQUILO and Blooms, and played her first festival at this summer’s Bestival. Esther will be releasing her self-titled debut EP on the 23rd of October this year.

THE BLACK SPARROWS – Dirty Lips [starts 08:17]
https://facebook.com/theblacksparrows
A life lived in pubs, night buses and dingy clubs give The Black Sparrows the passion for their exciting blend of punk ’n’ roll. Their sharp lyrics and danceable riffs have made them firm favourites on the London gig scene. Renowned for their live performances, The Black Sparrows are every inch the snarling, tightly wound power of their punk influences. Their debut album Tiskie Tapes sees the boys on top form with songs about lost loves, pubs and cheap drugs.

BARON & BYRNE – Charlie Boy You’re On My Mind [starts 11:20]
https://soundcloud.com/baronandbyrne
“Baron & Byrne is the musical identity of London-based songwriter Joe Doris, whose obsession with lush harmonies and touches of psychedelia adds colour to his interpretation of folk music. Songs of affection feature heavily, as do layers of vocals drawing obvious comparisons to ‘60s folk duos Simon & Garfunkel and Wendy & Bonnie. The waltzing ‘Cinnamon Sticks’ and ‘Green Willow’ exhibit the sounds central to Baron & Byrne’s music, whilst ‘Charlie Boy You’re On My Mind’ relies more on both languid and wandering vocal lines to offer apparent advice to a loved one. Expect more recordings, including a handful of folk standards, in the coming months. ”

TESSERA SKIES – Such Great Heights (Raindrops) [starts 14:48]
http://tesseraskies.com
Newcastle’s Tessera Skies consist of Mark Broughton, Matt Hardy and Ben Helm. “This single is the follow-up to June 2015’s critically loved Out of Sight, which prompted The Guardian to highlight them as one of their six North East bands to watch out for in 2015. Coming from collective backgrounds in speech, sound, science, classical and jazz, Tessera Skies have received critical acclaim for their previous releases including a nod for Soliloquy Of An Astronaut as Simon Raymonde’s Track of the Year in The Times Culture Magazine. Their acclaimed single Milieu, produced by Nick Mason  of Pink Floyd, also appeared as part of the Roundhouse 30/30 in conjunction with EMI & Generator. Previous single, Droplet, also received high praise, with CLASH calling it “a powerful, dramatic piece of work”. Already receiving airplay from Radio 1, BBC Radio 2, 6Music, BBC Newcastle, and Amazing Radio, they recently performed at the 6Music Festival and headlined the Sage Gateshead. Such Great Heights (Raindrops) was released on Friday (16th October) via North Base Records and in conjunction with Amazing Label Services.”

HANA REEVES – Gonna Want You More [starts 18:14]
http://hanareeves.com

Other featured vocal spots will include several colabs with sublime EDM producer Kapzool from Argentina and Burn Up by Jacksonville to be released state-side on Robbins this summer Hana is currently in the studio working on her next EP which will be released later in 2015. THE LANCASHIRE HUSTLERS – The Flyer [starts 21:30]
http://lancashirehustlers.com
The Lancashire Hustlers have been making music together since they were teenagers. Originally from Southport but now based in London they continue to follow their own idiosyncratic music path – crafting pop operas, creating music/film montages and setting poetry to music. Something of a two man orchestra, they employ a large collection of instruments on their recordings including Indian tamboura, melodica, bowed psaltery, autoharp, lap steel guitar, tin whistle, glockenspiel, harmonica, ukulele and accordion together with a huge arsenal of percussion.

TWEAKS – Sisters [starts 00:00]
https://facebook.com/TweaksMusic
Tweaks are a two piece comprising Aman Singh and Johnny Drain, together they make enigmatic pop music for the nocturnal hours. Both from Birmingham (Handsworth and Harborne), they actually met in Bruges, whilst dating a pair of sisters. Both being twins themselves, they acknowledge a strong pull towards the geminal, a dynamic through which they have bonded. Most of the time they’ve been working together, they’ve been in different cities and even countries (Johnny, a scientist, was living in Copenhagen, while Aman is an architect in London).

VANESSA FORERO – Heaven Knows [starts 30:06]
http://vanessaforero.com
British/Colombian singer-songwriter Vanessa Forero has been composing since the age of nine. She has mainly written film/TV scores and songs for other artists, but since being selected in 2015 by Brit award singer-songwriter Beth Orton to write with and perform at her UK show, Forero decided to become her own artist and record, perform and produce her own songs. Vanessa is from Bradford, Yorkshire.

VOYAGERS – Higher [starts 33:46]
https://soundcloud.com/voyagersmusicuk
Voyagers is the brainchild of Rich Turvey and Tom Longworth. Known as producers for Radio-loved acts like Clean Cut Kid, Darlia, Wiley, VITAMIN and Rymez, the duo have created their own outfit which sees the same sonic conquering as their productions paired with an individual song-writing nous channelled through various talented guest vocalists.

LOIS – Sid James [starts 36:41]
http://www.loistheband.com
Lois are a four-piece rock and roll band from Nottingham comprising John Selby, Rich Spencer, Lee Matysiak and Adrian Maguire. Influenced by some of the greatest British and US bands of the 60s and early 70s, their debut album “The Polperro Horse Bus Company” was released independently in 2014 via Neon Grove Music. The band have steadily increased a following in their hometown at well-respected venues around the City. BBC DJ Mark Radcliffe has championed the band on both his BBC Radio 2 and 6 Music shows in the UK, noting that “Lois have managed to pull off that most difficult of tricks – sounding authentically retro whilst simultaneously being absolutely contemporary. Nice one lads”. They have worked with producers/engineers Guy Massey , Jim Spencer and Jon Astley recording their debut E.P. ‘Velvet Mornings’ and their debut album, receiving glowing press reviews for both their live shows and recorded work.”

ELLE MARY & THE BAD MEN – Happiness [starts 40:15]
http://ellemarymusic.tumblr.com
“Drawn to the communicative and bonding qualities of ‘folk’ but explorative beyond its stylistic connotations; enough of a pack member to want a band yet also keen to imbue a sense of solitude through her music, Elle Mary is an artist who operates best when balancing conflicting instincts. It’s what lies beneath the subtle tension that slightly tugs at the heart of her and The Bad Men’s acoustically-webbed slowcore minimalism. We’re currently recording a 7″ with our friends Blooms to be released early 2016. Upcoming shows: 17th Oct Eagle Inn Manchester (supporting La Luz); 8th Nov Clwb ifor bach, Swn Festival Cardiff”

THREE KINGS HIGH – Swine [starts 43:41]
http://threekingshigh.com
Three Kings High are an amalgamation of Bristol’s diverse influences with big riff heavy guitars, anthemic choruses and indie sensibilities. Through their new record, Three Kings High have made every effort to translate their live shows into a studio recording, ensuring the energy and impact is immediately felt. It is this live sound that has allowed the Kings to play Punk nights in London, as well as Soul venues in Newcastle, and have the crowds become fans of a band outside their normal comfort zone. Three Kings High have also supported established acts like The Last Internationale, Huey Morgan, The Milk, Molotov Jukebox & Craig Charles, playing main stages at numerous festivals, as well as touring throughout the UK. Three Kings High have completed their second headline tour this year to support their album, Hail, and will be going out again in the spring of 2016 to promote their follow-up. View Swine Video here.”

NIHILS – Not A Man Of Violence [starts 47:52]
https://facebook.com/nihilsmusic
“Three young Austrians, conquer the world with their electronic alternative music – a very brief description for the band Nihils, who have been a buzzword in the scene for quite some time now. Their past release ‘Help Our Souls’ became a dance anthem and has since been clicked over 1 million times. Their remix (Urban Contact Remix Epic / Ultra) climbed the Austrian charts and became a radio favorite; to date over 4 million streams. Their success gradually rippled through to America where they played at the renowned SXSW festival in March 2015, leading to their support for 30 Seconds to Mars. Without having released an album, this is a noteworthy achievement. Here’s where it gets exciting: After a brief reclusive period NIHILS return with a brand new sound. In September their new single will be released – sounding more mature, so much can be revealed. 2016 will bring the long-awaited debut album, an album with more electronic depth and more courage in hooks & melodic vocals. In search of this new sound the Tyroleans moved to Berlin where they were inspired by the vibrant international electro scene. Working with producer Niko Stössl and Paul Kinski one can look forward to a range of danceable pop tunes, driven packed with creativity and style.”

R00MS – Promises [starts 51:05]
http://r00.ms
“As musicians with a foundation deeply rooted in film both professionally and personally, r00ms is a project spawned by a desire to artistically meld their two major passions. Drawing inspiration from significant moments in film and culture from both the present and past, r00ms’ overall focus is on creating soundscapes that coincide with a cinematic approach, often incorporating ideas and thoughts from prolific personas across the globe into both their music and visuals. Self-producing, writing, and recording their material, r00ms frequently takes a similarly cinematic route towards the process of crafting their music as well. Most recently, r00ms introduced the first preview of their forthcoming mixtape through the debut of their latest release, ‘Promises.’ The track and video were heavily influenced and inspired by the band’s observation of society’s fascination and romanticism of the gangster and the intriguing world in which they live…where glamour meets violence meets sex (which can also be evidenced by recent films such as Legend and Black Mass).”

BUCK – Underneath The Glow Of My Skin [starts 55:57]
https://buck1.bandcamp.com
